Great Alternative
As an alternative to the traditional method of holding the bongos between one's knees, this stand is precisely what I now need. This also allows for the player's feet to have more freedom to play instruments. This stand holds rather heavy oak bongos (LP Galaxy; circa 90s) with great stability. The strap used for securing the drums is solid in the way it holds the drums in place. I was unsure at first of the strap's security partly because of the weight of the drums.I've an LP bongo stand for playing when standing that, instead of a strap, includes a 'crossbar' that secures to the stand and rests under the drums, and a nut and bolt secures the drums by the block separating the drums to the stand. It may fit this stand for seated playing, but the strap is quite sufficient.A concern is that the strap has been extended to its limit to hold my drums. The strap may stretch with regular use and slacken. Augmenting the size of the block between the drums is a possible solution to that. To avoid unnecessarily stretching the strap, only the stand is gripped when moving the drums when they're on the stand.

It's worth the money for anyone that doesn't like the black and blues on their knees, it helps for people with diabetes. ffsalsa
I first purchase the full size stand from LP that was great, because when I play bongos for a Latin Salsa Band in New York, I can't stand watching musicians back size which time I'm playing, plus I don't like the black and blues that I get from sitting down on a chair and holding them between my legs on my knees. Due to old age and diabetes for all you ladies and gentlemen that might have this situation this is the best solution to this problem. Most important this stand is great, you don't get the black and blues on your knees and you don't have to drop the bongos on the floor when you have to pick up the bell. Trust me those of you who know me know that I'm not easy when it comes to writing a review, especially if a item doesn't work that way it suppose to, but although LP was making a stand for a bongo player not for medical it helps both. Trust me it's worth every penny for this stand, now I have both, plus although I play timbales more, they hate when I'm standing next to me they know that I'm here ffsalsa/Frankie. I love it.

When necessity arises trust LP
I'm not so young anymore and I need a hip replacement so until I get it I need a stand.I looked around and I seen what is available.I went for the Lp because for 40 years they have never let me down. The stand is really a substantial piece of gear, built well and does the job. Chromed steel and strong enough to hold my drums(10 lbs.) steady and secure. The height adjustment is tricky for me so I use a throne that goes up and down.If your less than 5ft.6ln. you can stand. It is worth the price and won't fall apart before I do.Glad I got it.

just 2" more would have made it perfect. Since they only give a height number (and ...
This really is a high quality piece of gear and I am sure I will be using it for many years and would give it 5 stars except for two points:1) It doesn't quite go low enough, just 2" more would have made it perfect. Since they only give a height number (and not a drawing explaining what that dimension is in reference to) I took a gamble and will have to sit slightly higher than I would normally. They lose a half star for not providing proper info.2) the adjustable screw on the strap lock had flat areas in it and I had to fit a tool in the head and use a little cutting fluid and file to rethread it. There's no way to disassemble the screw from the strap mechanism to fit a die on it to properly rethread it without busting it. Fortunately the flat areas were very small and so it now works fine but another half star loss for a quality issue.

Great Buy!
Great quality and itvserves it purpose as it makes it easier to play both the congas and bongos while sitting down. I clamped a conga mic clip on the stand for sound reinforcement on larger gigs.

It holds bongos
It holds my bongos and is the right height for me while sitting on my cajon. Works for just what I wanted it too

Perfect Stand
Extraordinary for seated bongo playing. It’s expensive; then again, no other seated stand matches its construction. This is a serious stand.
