Awesome silverware!
When my finance and I were setting up a house, I found some Oneida on clearance at a store going out of business. I bought it for a steal and was very happy. But as time went on, spoons were lost, forks misplaced, etc and we were frequently running out of silverware between dishwasher runs. So here we are a couple years later I decided to get another set. I purchased this as it looked the most similar to what we had and were happy with.Boy was I wrong! This is WAY nicer than what we had--much sturdier and so pretty! Even my husband, who isn't known for his his attention to details such as silverware, commented on how much he liked it. We both love it. We aren't fancy people (no fancy china or anything) but this will look nice for those few dinner parties we do host. Plus it makes scooping out hard ice cream and serving foods much easier. It is simple, yet elegant and feels great in your hand--nice weight, but not unwieldly. In fact, we were SO pleased with the new set that we decided to get another set with some Christmas $ and give the old set away. However, I paid $54 for the 8-person/45-piece set on Dec 8, 2010 (with free shipping) on Amazon and here we are on Dec 26th and it has now jumped to over $90 when you factor in shipping through Target! I was disappointed and although I was happy with it, I'm not willing to pay almost double less than a month later for the same exact product. My advice would be to add it to your cart and wait for it to be sold by Amazon again in the $50-60 range and snap it up!All in all, we are VERY happy with the product, just disappointed with the jump in price on Amazon, but as this is a product review, then a review of the product you'll get :-)UPDATE: Sept 3, 2011:After using the new set for a while, I am just as pleased as when it first arrived. I decided to order another set. I noticed some reviews saying that depending on where the sets were made, the quality changed. Boy were they right! I looked at my original (not as nice set) and it was from China. The newer (much nicer) set was made in Indonesia! The difference was unbelievable! While the set from China is still acceptable, it doesn't even hold a candle to the Indonesian set! I put the set in my cart and waited until the price dropped to where I was happy (about $42 bucks) and bought it. It arrived and I anxiously looked at the box for a country of origin--"Made in Indonesia!" YAY! I opened it up and it was the superior quality. I happily washed them and ousted the old China set from my drawer.I just saw today that the price jumped up to $79--yikes! A 100% increase in 5 days! Really, Amazon! That's a bit steep! But it's a great set and like I said before, put it in your cart and when it drops in price again, go for it! Then, when it arrives, make sure it's from Indonesia!

Holding Up Well Going on 3rd Year of Use!
As I purchased this set in December of 2013, I feel that I can write a relevant review on this flatware. Over the past few years, the set has held up nicely. The components have been used frequently, cleaned in the dishwasher, and have endured the everyday wear-and-tear of young children, teens, and adults. Overall, I'm very pleased with them and plan to buy another set in the future. Here's the pros and cons:PROS |Metal: Solid, heavy weight. The metal is very strong. None of them have any rust.Streamlined design: The absence of grooves and other intricate details make them very easy to clean.Appearance: They look very high quality and have an elegant shape.Durability: Every single utensil has maintained its shape and function. None are bent, even after a few accidental encounters with the garbage disposal and other random events that have occurred.Finish: It's possible to maintain the same finish they have when brand new. However, it does require work to do so.CONS |High maintenance: Cleaning these seem to involve a high level of work to keep them in optimal condition. I'll explain below.Scratching: Nearly every piece has small stretches in them from normal use. However, as I mentioned, they're used a lot so I think this is to be expected.Water spots and residue: Don't expect to just air dry these and stick them in the cutlery drawer. In order to maintain the finish and to restore the shine, I use a dish towel or papertowel to buff them after they're washed (either by hand or in the dishwasher). I also found that using Jet Dry in the dishwasher reduces the residue. Note that I live in the Phoenix metro area, and we have hard tap water (hard = calcium and magnesium that's found in the water) that is full of minerals and not what I would consider to be drinkable (Phoenix city water is generally considered safe to drink but tastes disgusting). I'm not sure if this would be an issue for individuals who live in an area with higher quality tap water. Good news: Once I started using Jet Dry on a regular basis (or if I just hand wash them), it only takes a quick wipe to get them to dry without any residue.Fingerprints: The shine is nice but they do not disguise fingerprints very well. After drying and buffing them, I hold them on the side of the handles in order to prevent my fingerprints from transferring onto them. This usually works well. I just think that it would be gross for anyone, and especially a guest, to open the drawer and grab a fork or spoon with visible fingerprints.

Great flatware set
I'd been looking for new flatware for a while, but it seemed like for so many sets that soup spoons had become the size of serving spoons and teaspoons the size of soup spoons. This Mooncrest has what I consider normally sized soup and tea spoons.
