Waterproof as long as it's not in use.
When a plug is inserted in this socket, the lid cannot be shut and water can enter. It's waterproof as long as it's not in use.

Purposeless
If you thought you could plug in, switch on and close the lid and forget about water entering, it's not possible. The waterproof lid can be closed only without three pin plug, not with plug inserted. It is needlessly expensive, there's no fuse either.
