Q: Is this considered Polyurethane or similar in density and firmness?

Appreciate your clarification question. Polyurethane foam has "open cells". Open cell materials are typically "lower" density foams, readily absorb moisture/odor/etc. and are usually easy to compress. Typical density 1.2-1.6 pounds per cubic foot. PU foams are not considered higher performance, work horse foams. The foam we use is considered an "engineered" foam, from compounded rubber base that is also used in OEM vehicle production for over 10 years. It is "closed" cell, will NOT absorb moisture/odors/etc. Durable & widely used in sound & vibration reduction/seals/gaskets in vehicles/appliances/heavy trucks as well as saddle pads, etc. Density is much higher for this foam than typical PUs. Density is closer to 4 pounds per cubic foot. It is compressible but firmer, on purpose, than typical PU foam. Our rubber based foam is designed as more of a "work horse" type foam. 100% Made & fabricated in USA. Hope that helps explain the distinct difference between PU foam and our rubber based foam. Q: Is it water proof? Looking to add to the kayak so I'm not busting my hand on the side

Thanks for your question. All of the foams used in our products are "closed-cell". They do not absorb water. The moisture on the surface of the foam / foam's cells, will dry out if any water is on the surface after water exposure. In addition, the closed-cell foams we use will provide cushioning/padding as well. Hopefully, that answers your question. Q: Can this foam withstand high temps up to 220*f?

This rubber base closed cell foam Should be able to take temperatures up to 220 F intermittently. For relatively short periods of time. We would not recommend them for that temperature to be sustained for many hours at a time. foamzz from Premier Products will very soon be offering our EPDM rubber line of foam products. EPDM foam can withstand higher temperatures for longer periods of times such as 220° F. You can email us for additional information, and what size you may be looking for with or without adhesive.
