Hi. This is for inhale only. The more balls you can get to the top and hold it there for as an long as you can. This will improve your lungs. Hope this helps

Hello Sapphire, THe short answer is no, well I didn't. I got this following a collapsed lung as a result of an accident. It is worth while buying, not as good as a similar machine I was supplied with in hospital, where three balls had t be maintained between two lines on the tubes and I stupidly left behind. It is important to wash the mouth piece /tube and dry them thoroughly cf Bagpipe Lung. The adjustable breathing exerciser available from Amazon is good too. WAshing & drying appplies too. I was told to blow up a ballon /rubber glove while in the thoracic dept. I hope this helps, good luck! Uncommon & nice name by the bye. P.

Q: Is it suitable for 5 yr old kids ?

Not being a paediatrician, nor having anything to do with the medical profession, I can only reply as a parent and from my own personal experience. Under parental supervision I cannot think of any reason why this apparatus should be harmful to a 5 year old. However if you believe there is a specific need for the 5 year old in question to use it, then I can only advise that you seek a medical opinion. However, if it is purely for pleasure, exercise, entertainment or competition just keep an eye on him/her. The equipment does come apart and the small balls inside, whilst not intended to go in the mouth, and might not be swallowed they could be a choking hazard for an inquisitive child. If two people are proposing to use the equipment a second mouth piece can be purchased. My wife, who has emphysema, has found it to be very useful and effective, so good luck. Hope this helps?
