are these neodymium magnets?

Yes, they must be neodymium magnets because it says, "20 pounds" of pulling strength.  Ceramic magnets, which are also frequently sold, would tend not to claim any specific pounds of pulling strength because they are weaker.  Samarium cobalt magnets, which are stronger than ceramic magnets but weaker than neodymium magnets, are very rarely ever sold.  Ferrite magnets, which were very popular 50 years ago, are as weak as ceramic magnets and are very rarely ever sold.

What is the diameter of these clips?

The clip is 1 1/4 inches; the magnet itself is about 1 1/2 inches. The clip grip is very strong. These are the strongest magnets I have ever used for this size. I have larger magnets with larger clips that are made of metal that leave marks on refrigerator & are not as strong considering their comparative size. I also like that they do come in colors since I color code. They are worth their cost!  Hope this helps.

Is the clip part itself, and where it attaches to the magnetic back, durable?

The clip is part of all the plastic & it is very durable! Magnets are the strongest magnets I have ever had....and I use magnets everyday for organizing all papers, notices, events, phone #'s for family, neighbors, friends, important info, important business cards as well as a 2 to 3 months of large printable calendar pages that I can write appointments, memos, etc. THESE are the strongest magnets of all my magnets even stronger than larger all metal magnets.  I accidently attached 2 of the magnet parts together when I had 2 of them in my same hand! I thought magnets would repell each other; not so with these! I tried different tools, etc. to seperate them...I even had a friend who has strong hands as well as screwdriver, etc. to try. We would only end up damaging very durable plastic or break tools. They are more expensive than other strong magnets & even their price has gone up quite a lot, but they are very well made.  I have accidently knocked off fridge door other magnets with clips. the magnet either breaks in half or pieces or becomes unglued. Never   knocked one of these off fridge door; the magnets are very strong as well as heavy compared to all the other magnets.  I also like that they come in colors that I can used to denote different levels of importance, etc. I live in a very small studio. Desk is only large enough for laptop and lamp.  I hope these magnets work as well for you as they do for me!

Do the magnets pop out easily?

No, they do not pop out easily.  Ours are still intact after two years of use.  I have never tried actually popping them out.
