I was replacing the batteries for the 1st time today and wondered when I bought this. Dec. 2018, so I would say it is durable. I don't use it for reading a lot, more like labels, fine print, a paragraph or two of directions. It is a bit cumbersome for extensive reading. I listen to books on mp3 audio files if I want to consume a book, I never found any magnifier that wasn't a pain to use for reading an entire book. Tried 3 different ones on Amazon and thought this the best by far. I keep this near the computer and grab it when I need it. You don't need to baby it, it can be gently tossed around like any other electronic tool. It would be ideal for family kitchen life in my opinion.

I'm 55 and have the start of macular degeneraation so looking at small things such as cross stitch or the diamond painting with a regular magnifying glass makes things a little difficult and distorted to say the least. I found this at a rating of five stars and looked at the reviews and thought why not! I'll try anything at this point. My package arrived while i was at work and i could not wait to try it! OMG!! I'm impressed and for the price to!! It definitely gives me a broader range than a regular magnifyer and the light even helps as well!! This helps me so much right now with my diamond paintings and i can work a little faster than with the regular magnifyer! No distortion like the cheap ones do! This was definitely worth every penny. The downside is you have to hold it while doing your work, so i will be looking into a floor stand with the same magnification if i can, but still......I CAN READ!! My husband was even impressed with the smaller magnifyer on it and how detailed it could get. Fast shipping! Thank you!!!

Seems as if it would be nice however mine arrived with a defective part so batteries couldn’t be used. Had to make a return which is obviously a hassle

I'm so glad I picked up this magnifying glass! It has great magnification, and doesn't distort what you're looking at. It's also lightweight, and has a really large viewing area. It even has a 2 setting light built-in that requires AA batteries, so you can replace the batteries when they wear out. It's too big to carry in my purse, but that's ok. And at this price, I'll probably order another one - I like having them in the places in the house where I'm most likely to need them.

This was great! Finally can see to take splinter out and read tiny print. Different color lights are nice and bright so don't need to find a high light area to see things. I have one with each type of handle, the flat handle is nice and smaller than the round handle but the round handle allows you to stand up the magnifier on its own. Both handles are nice.

The fact that it stands up is pretty cool.However the exterior is cheap thin plastic that seems like it would crack or break if it were dropped. I would expect this to cost around $10.The one I received was defective - the LED lights sometimes don't turn on or flicker when they are on. This is being returned.

I'm getting old, and the print on phones and websites is getting smaller. Finally gave in to buying a magnifier. Overall, I like it a lot. But I was surprised by how big it is. I mean, I'm not tossing this in my purse on my way out to dinner. But to keep it next to my chair, while surfing the internet or shopping online, it's perfect. Don't think it's gonna break any time soon frim dropping it--very very sturdy.

The magnifying glass works. Just don't use it too much. Usually when reading something, you want to read it instantly. Not go find the magnifying glass, turn it on, and hold it close to the writing. This magnifying glass is for special occasions when you need to see minute detail, not really for everyday usage.
