Brings Back Sweet Memories
This Thrifty Ice Cream Scooper instantly brought back so many childhood memories! I love the nostalgic feel of making those perfect cylinder-shaped scoops just like the old ice cream counters used to do.That said, it works best with firmer ice cream. When the ice cream is too soft, it can stick inside the scooper and make it harder to get that clean cylinder shape. Also, since the scoop just sits on the cone instead of being pressed in, it can come loose if you're not careful, more than once I almost lost a scoop mid-lick! 😅Still, I really like this scooper and will be using it from now on. It’s more than just a kitchen tool, it’s a little trip down memory lane. Highly recommend for anyone who grew up with Thrifty ice cream or wants to recreate that classic experience.

Excellent quality ice cream scooper w/trigger. Good value. highly recommend!
This old-fashioned ice cream scooper is an excellent quality scoop that features a convenient trigger mechanism. It is cleverly designed, well made from stainless steel, and has a polished finish. The weight is just right, and since the stainless steel is commercial grade, it is rust-resistant.I had never seen anything like this before, and I instantly fell in love with it. It works exactly as described—it's fantastic! The scooper is comfortable to hold, and the trigger releases smoothly. You can use it not only for ice cream, but also for any frozen treats you want to serve.Priced at USD $19.98 (at the time of this review) it is a good value.I highly recommend it!Thank you for reading my review! Hand wash only printed on the back bottom of the included insert.
The Thrifty ice cream scoop works great and brings back very fond childhood memories. It was only five cents a scoop back in the good ol' days. A triple @ 15 cents was a no-brainer. However, the Mfr. says it's made of 100% commercial grade stainless steel. When you place a magnet next to it, it doesn't attract at all, which is commercial grade stainless steel. However, the spring is not 100% stainless steel as the magnet attracts to it with good strength. Online says it is dishwasher safe. If you read the bottom of the back of the carton in the depicted photograph, it says "hand wash only." I'm guessing because of the spring which will rust and weaken in the dishwasher with extended washings.

Nostalgic and seems well made!
Works well. We used it on very solid ice cream and some that was softer and it worked easily. The problem is non commercial sized ice cream containers, as you get lower into the carton, it's a bit tricky with this type of handle. It's nostalgic and seems to be well constructed. It is a heavier weight which I appreciate, and it has the cute little Thrifty's logo on it. The grip is nice especially for firmer icecreams. I have a harder time with a thumb lever and this has a full hand lever to release the icecream. The scoop size is about the same as a standard ice cream disher. It definitely all lends to great scoopablity! This would make a really fun gift to someone who, like me used to go to Thrifty's as a kid.

Love it!
Works perfectly. Very sturdy. I saw reviews saying it fell apart after a while. The only thing I can imagine is there is a spring with a screw in the release handle. In the future, if the screw becomes loose it can easily be tightened using a small wrench. The device is sturdy and well soldered. Very well made!Having fun making ice cream cones every night!

Nostalgic Thrifty Ice Cream Scooper
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for the nostalgia and have never used this style of ice cream scooper since they were only available at Thrifty's ice cream counters. After receiving mine, I was ready to scoop -- actually had a half gallon of Thrifty ice cream at home.It does take some getting used to but like other online reviews, the ice cream can stick to the top of the device so the ice cream doesn't release from the scoop. Maybe there's more technique that I don't know about but when I tried to get the ice cream loose, my scooper locks up as the interior ceiling mechanism reaches the maximum lower point and kinda jams. What is odd is that when you get Thrifty ice cream at the store, it has these ice chips in it that adds a pleasant texture to it. But, I never got those textures with home scooped Thrifty vanilla ice cream until I scooped it with this scooper. It's not in my head as I eat enough ice cream to know.I am keeping this despite the ice cream sticking to the top and jamming issue since this is part nostalgia for me but I want to get another half gallon of Thrifty vanilla ice cream and see if I can get those 'ice chips' again?

Functional and still a vintage appearance.
Scooper works well and serves a great shaped cylindrical scoop of ice cream. Looks just like the scooper that used to be i the Thrift ice cream counter. Internal rods in scooper, push out ice cream onto your cone or dish.
