Sunfounder RFID RC522
The media could not be loaded. By profession I install commercial and residential security and data systems. I also love playing with electronics and broadening my knowledge. A couple years ago I bought a mega starter kit for Arduino and it came with a ton of different components from stepper motors to motion sensors, it also included an RFID sensor. For whatever reason I couldn't get it too work. I watched tutorial after tutorial. Finally thinking the device was bad I bought a sunfounder clone and it worked straight out of the box as it should. Very pleased with the quality and price. I couldn't believe I waited two years to buy a new one.

As advertised. Reads and writes RFID.
The media could not be loaded. Very good product for the money. Easy to connect to a Raspberry Pi 4. Example scripts are plentiful online. Read distance is very small, maybe 2” or 3” max. More distance requires UHF 820 MHz to 960 MHz IIRC. Maybe lower frequencies like 125 KHz. I’m still learning this stuff for a mad science project. Still, contact reading works perfectly every time I’ve used it.

Good quality, good seller
Works as expected. To be clear, it is a clone of the "official" rfid-mfrc522 module, but works just as great. Ultimately, if you're looking for US shipping and a seller who is available with customer support than this is a good clone. Seller emailed me through their customer service and asked if I needed any help or had any questions without me contacting them, I appreciated this. A bit pricier than international modules, but that is to be expected

Awesome product! Get your RFID on.
We had a knock off brand from Micro Center that had some bugs in the software. When it failed we bought this SunFounder board, card & chip. It worked instantly & is reliable & the code is stable! Definitely recommend the product & company.

Only works with given cards.
Does not work with 125kHZ cards (which is most RFID nowadays) basically if your looking for a reader that can read other cards then look somewhere else. I suggest Sparkfun and not Amazon

Great RFID reader?
We bought this to use in a science fair project and it took us a while to sort out how to use it (operator error!). After we discovered the issue, we've found it works perfectly and we're very pleased with it.No problems to report and this is a great value. Fully recommend.

Already the second module, for another project.Works like a charm. Make sure to order 13.56MHz Fobs or cards.
