Best longest lasting dictation saving system ever produced. Designed by Philips (Germany) I think.20 year old tapes I've tested still have my dictation dialogue on them due to the great design of the original cassette format. Old 5.25 inch floppy disks from my DOS computer went bad in 5 years!Thank you Philips designers, you are great people.Cassette will remain my dictation format forever and should still be advertised as the best. It is small yet a good hand holdable size as are the little battery recorders it uses.New memory stick recorders are too small and too easy to loose or break.Cassette is not obsolete tech, instead, Cassette is "best tech" over all others.

Although normal bias, it DOES work great for recording high level music. I routinely record in the red on the meters and this tape handles it all perfectly, nearly as well as some high bias tapes. But no cassette is as good as, say, a TDK SA-90 high bias, but those are so expensive that I don't bother with them anymore. But after over 45 years of recording music on tapes, I have noticed something interesting. Normal bias tapes like these tend to retain more of the original quality recording for much longer than high bias cassettes do.And these take abuse, left in your car in winter and summer, etc, they still are OK. Also, may professional recording artists prefer analog to digital, as it seems to capture a warmth and real feel that digital can lack. Recording music on a digital CD is NO guarantee of better sound, in fact, it may not be as good in some cases. That's why I still use a cassette deck in my truck, (a CD player is also present but used less).

Great tapes, and reasonably economical. There are still a lot of applications for cassette tapes, and Maxell's have been one of my top choices for quality and durability over the years. For a time I found it more difficult to get high-bias tapes than normal bias. These are normal bias, and now it appears that these are scarcer than the high-bias. Not sure where this will lead, but if you need quality, normal bias cassette tapes, I'd grab some of these, while you still can.

I am 87 and this is a great recreation for me, it hasbeen my hobby since I purchased my first reel to reel which it recorded on wire! My 2nd was an AMPRO, 2 big reel's,mike, speakers in the recorder which weighed about 25 lbs. then came the WALLENSAK smaller, but speakers andno mike which I missed to dedicate music from my own imaginary STATION. From there on I had several reel to reelsuntil I converted to cassettes. I ordered these cassette tapes to record minutes for meetings. When used for the first time, the playback is clear and the sound quality is great. Unfortunately, when I use the tape a second time, its garbled in some places making it impossible to decipher what is being said. It only happens if the tape is used a second time. I was a transcriptionist for many years before the digital age and used tapes over and over again without any problem. In fact most of our cassette tapes were used for a year. During one meeting, my tape seemed to stop and turn really slow. It's in those instances when I play back the tape it skips and everything is garbled. I can't use them to record again so they are just tossed. I have never experienced anything like this in the past with Maxell tapes unless the tape was erased and reused many, many times.

Poor quality. Brand new tapes have damaged tape edge . Out of 10 brand new tapes just out of the wrapper ( prior to using in tape deck), I have had 2 defective . The edge of the tape ( seen on side A) is wrinkled resulting in poor audio on left channel. It was not cut or spooled correctly at the factory. Very disappointed as there is such a limited selection of new audio tapes these days.

I'm probably one of the last people on the planet who still creates compilation tapes and I find that these tapes are good for this purpose, especially when played back through a boom box. I found it tricky to set the bias and equalization levels and get the two channels balanced, but that is a minor issue. It's not like I'm running a recording studio.

For those who still use a Cassette recorder, these tapes hold up so very well.
