Since Sara Lee acquired Gallo Salami, the quality has seriously declined. Gallo salami was unique in the US market. It was American made but could compete with any imported Italian Salami - even better. It did not have a high fat and gristle content as it does now. It had delicious flavor like Parma ham with pepper corns mixed in. It tasted like an authentic Italian salami. This new version is a much lesser quality, watered down version that you can find anywhere. Nothing special about it! I am very disappointed and sad that the old recipe is gone.
