THE EMPRESS [Paperback] Kincaid, S. J.

Better sequel to an engaging tale.
I much preferred this book compared to its predecessor. Nemesis continued her growth as a person and her continuing relationship with Tyrus was engaging and heartbreaking. The vividly described violence of the first book was toned down here and that was appreciated. Top notch writing!

Wondrous
The Empress is a wonderful very different book it stepped outside the normal, it included threats from people nature and one another. I don't want to spoil anything but the ending is NOT a happy on but its NOT a sad one either it is in a way very new and inspiring, it far exceeded the previous book(The Diabolic) and is probably the BEST book I have EVER read I really hope you love it as much as I have it was absolutely marvelous

Interesting Read
I'm giving this book a four star because I simply don't quite know exactly how I feel about the ending. I've rarely read books in a series that takes whatever the reader knows from the first book and completely strips it down. I feel that the author was brave in using the unexpected ending that included Nemesis being betrayed by the only person she really ever trusted and simultaneously, I feel that it has taken away so much from the story because they were each other's champions. While I feel this way, I can also see the potential for how this will help build Nemisis's character as she understands human betrayal and the reader is wondering whether she can overcome her feelings. The only other portion of the plot I found lacking was the fate of Orthanion. I feel that if he had lived the story would have made for a much more interesting ending. I would have preferred him being killed in the end and not Neveni. I feel that after Orthanion died, the trip to the sacred city felt like a waste and led the characters down an unpredictable path. Overall, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. It lack the charm that The Diabolic had and took away more than it gave. Will buy the last book regardless though.
