This review was updated after using it a few days: In AirPlay mode, Apple Music disconnects after every single song. It’s virtually unusable for listening to Christmas music or a playlist. So irritating. Beware if you plan to use it for listening to music.Also, it doesn’t come with a power source, or a headphone to RCA cable. Fortunately I was able to dig those up from an old box of AV cables I had.Original review:I bought this to add Airplay to my legacy whole-house audio system. It works, but I wish I could rename it from the default of "RENKCHIP-924XZY-ITV". That's not a guest or family-friendly name. I'd like to set my own name like "AV Dongle 1" that guests can recognize and connect to.

The display dongle easily connected to my monitor via HDMI, and was easily plugged into my computer speakers. Once connected, it was trivial to switch the device between Miracast and DLNA modes. To complete the DLNA setup on the device and connect it to my wireless network, I had to connect directly to the wifi network that the dongle sets up when in DLNA mode and enter my network information using the device's web interface. This wasn't too hard once I knew what I was looking for, but it's initially a bit counter-intuitive.With this display dongle in Miracast mode I was able to connect my Windows 10 laptop wirelessly to this device using the "Connect to Wireless Display" option in the display settings. The picture and sound quality were fine, and I was able to stream netflix videos to the monitor wirelessly.Unfortunately, when my laptop was wirelessly connected to the device in Miracast mode, there was a latency that got worse and worse the longer the device was connected. After an hour, I would have to wait 10 seconds or more after clicking on a button or rolling my mouse wheel to see any effect on the screen. I haven't experienced this latency when connecting my laptop to other miracast devices.With the device in DLNA mode and correctly connected to my local wireless network I was able to stream content from my laptop and my android phone. To stream content from my phone, I used the "Cast To TV" app by InShot, Inc. This allowed me to stream photos, music, and videos that I had locally saved to my computer. Unfortunately, the native Android Netflix app doesn't support streaming to external devices via DLNA. I was able to stream content from my windows 10 laptop by right-clicking a media file, mousing over "Cast To Device" in the context menu, and then selecting the device. This streamed both sound and video.Overall, the display dongle seems to work as advertised. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is the frustrating latency when connected via miracast. It makes the miracast mode effectively useless for anything except streaming short videos.

With all the streaming serviced out there, it’s so hard to know which apps and services will stream on which devices! This is perfect because it simply mirrors whatever is on your phone, laptop, iPad, etc. it’s very simple to set up and instructions are included. Use it for entertainment or for business/educational presentations. It’s really compact so you can just tote it around with you for whenever you need it. I highly recommend this dongle! Plus, you get to say the word “dongle”, so that’s fun.

Tried to follow the instructions to connect to the home wifi, the instructions are to connect to cellphones or Macbook - nothing with regard to connecting to home wifi. Not sure how to contact the company - past the date to return the product and get customer support - looks like this will just have to gather dust.

Easily places any image to computer or television. I love that I can see what the kids are doing on their tablets. We can watch YouTube on television without hassle of expensive equipment. Easy to use, pretty much just plug and go. Works with laptop, tablet, phone, even PlayStation in another room.

Bought it for my projector to avoid having to throw a cable across the room when I'm playing videogames with my friends. The dongle requires virtually no set up and very little power, the USB connector from my projector is enough to power it. The latency is on point, would recommend it to anyone.

Bought it to work tv with iPad. Works mostly, however difficult to show what’s on iPad, sometimes have to change HDMI cable to get it functional.

I followed the 3 little pages of how to setup and my phone was mirrored to my TV! Very Impressive!
