SSD DRIVES : is there a reliable company that makes a great drive?
The Glyph Atom Raid SSD 4TB external hard drive is fabulous. As a record producer, audio engineer and music video producer I've always needed extremely reliable external hard drives, especially when I'm needed to record in another studio, or shoot video on location. These drives are excellent and I'm never worried about them. These are consistently great drives and they transfer fast. This past week I was recording in a studio where Areatha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Ringo Starr and Bruce Hornsby had recorded... legendary studio. I asked them what HDs are you using to back up 100+ recorded tracks at 96K and above for just one song? Without hesitation the producer said bring a Glyph Atom Raid SSD drive. Professions need reliable tools to save and backup clients projects and don't mess around. Highly recommended!

Let the numbers speak for themselves
This is a test on a Dell XPS 17 from 2021. Device connected to a thunderbolt port... Very frequent disconnections. My power scheme is set to maximum performance, the disk is connected to thunderbolt ports and the transfer speed (which is tens of MB/s) drops to zero. And it stays at zero for minutes (second screenshot was done after 10 minutes of waiting - notice the speed is not even zero :D)... then the drive disconnects. I have to say I did thought about trowing it to garbage a few times.Other than that it's amazing.

Rock solid time machine backup drives
I have had three of these so far, only purchasing new ones because I needed higher capacity as I've added more to my laptop that needed backing up. The last one was purchased 5 years ago and never had so much as a hiccup during that time. I used it when I transferred my data to a new laptop and it worked flawlessly. Yes, they are expensive, but when you need your data you need your data and it's well worth the peace of mind. Also, I was able to back up over 1T of data for my initial Time Machine backup and it only took a few hours. This puppy is FAST. Although it's supposed to be pre-formatted for Mac, I was asked to format it prior to using it and that only took about 10 seconds. So far, so good with the higher capacity model I just purchased.
