Awesome shade.
Awesome shade. Easy to set up with one person. Just as difficult as anything else is in the wind,.. two people are needed. I love how the corners have impressive tie outs. The bag is super cool, everything has a dedicated space. For the other reviews that say it was complicated to set up, I wouldn't give it much credence. I do wish it can with 4 poles rather than two.

This is a very innovative product with many useful applications as well multiple configurations for use to suit your needs. The canopy fabric is all one piece that attaches securely to a rigid frame of poles much like a tent does. The frame poles are sturdy and the fabric seems very durable as well as having many attachment points to the poles to hold its shape. I camp in the desert often and shade is a scarce commodity so I'm excited to put this to the test! I have yet to test this in any challenging weather conditions, but so far it serves its purpose well for shade at a picnic, an outing at the park and a child's ballgame. The exo shade came with very minimal directions and left much to be desired in how to set it up properly without having to backtrack and fix mistakes in its assumed assembly. My wife and I are experienced with many tent designs and camp gear and this one still took us a minute to figure out. Principally make sure the poles and hub are right side up before attaching to the fabric as it is not universal. the hub only attaches on one side and we had to undo all the poles and snaps, flip the pole assembly over and reattach everything. Once assembled properly it is quite a decent size, big enough for 3-4 camp chairs to be shaded or cast shade over a full size picnic table if the sun is closer to the horizon. For shade mid day this needs to be attached to something nearby like a fence, another easy up or the back of an suv. Bungee cords, guy line tie downs and stakes come included to facilitate the multiple set up options. Pros:-Large size, accommodating for 3-6 people depending on use-Versatile setup options-Quick assembly and small footprint size when bagged up for storage.-Main support poles are adjustable in height.Cons- The two tall poles each require 3 stakes, which come with, but they are a very unique shape that only fits those poles. Using heavier duty stakes on the poles is not possible because of this. Also no stakes are provided to stake the canopy to the ground. there are sturdy fabric loops and grommet holes that traditional stakes will work on for the corners and center of the canopy where it meets the ground, but you have to get your own.- Main support poles merely fit into the grommeted corners of the canopy, but nothing secures them to the poles. there's nothing that snaps into place, no lynch pin, it just sits on the poles. My main concern with this will be in windy conditions where the canopy could lift right off the poles and if not staked to the ground fly away. If staked to the ground it could damage something or someone on the other side or tweak the poles/frame of itself from the torque. It comes with tie down ropes, but again, no extra stakes or inherent way to keep the canopy and poles attached besides gravity. Heavy duty stakes for the ground and a little McGuyvering for the pole attachment required for windy conditions. Overall this is a great product with much versatility that out of the box can be used in clear and calm weather for casual use, but for camping or any sort of windy conditions extra stakes and creativity are required to use this product. I was provided this product at no cost for my honest and thorough review. I hope you find my assessment helpful, Thank you :)

Flimsy and difficult to assemble and stabilize
I thought this would be a great product to take to the beach or lake for shade. Even though it was very windy the day we set it up, it was ridiculously difficult to put together. With four people working on it, two of them doctors and two who are just natural at assembling, it took over an hour to put together. The instructions were awful. When it was finally up, my son was afraid to put the baby under it because he was afraid the cords might pull out of the ground and hit the baby. Maybe if you have the perfect soil and no wind it might work out better. But don't plan on taking it to the beach or a hike where the soil is rocky. It wasn't worth the space it took up in the car.

Hard to put together, but not bad once it's up
I really wanted to like this a lot more than I did. But the difficulty in putting it together does make it hard. It really helps to have 2 people, any more than that and you get into the too many cooks syndrome and you'll never get it together. I found it easier to start with the section that they all pkug into, and work my way out. Once together, it is pretty nifty, gives you shade and some relief from wind, as long as it isn't too strong.I'd use it a lot more if it was easier to put together, as it is, I'll skip it for day trips and use it more for weekends or longer camping excursions. I may try to find or rig up longer poles to use it as an awning over the door of our trailer, but I don't know how long it will last being exposed to the hot Florida sun for so long, and the really windy days that also seem to live here.

Perfect size and versatile!
I love how compact it is for such a big shade! This whole shade canopy fits in a nice compact bag and you can wear it like a backpack, which is perfect to take it places. It's also light and won't hurt your shoulder when you carry it, I was surprised that it didn't weigh more. I use the Exo Shade while camping in Utah, and it is an awesome protectant for the desert winds and is great if you set it up in front of the fire (make sure you know where the wind is facing though, only you can prevent forest fires!) and it kept me and three of my friends warm and without wind in 30 degree weather. It was easy to set up, it took one other person and I under 5 minutes to do. Extremely easy to figure out, but it comes with detailed instructions if needed. I'm excited to use it in the summer to block the sun and open up the vent to get a nice cool breeze. Very seasonally versatile shade.
