Upgraded C4; version 3, (also called upgraded or new version) nice improvements.
In my never-ending search for a charger that cares as much about my expensive batteries as I do, I come upon the C4 ver3. This may be it. Overall an excellent charger, has safety & the well-being of your batteries in its design. The Good -1) Version 3 of the C4 charger with upgraded selectable charge current. 1.5A max, vice previous max 800mA which was low & slow for charging larger cells like 26650 and above. You can select current in 10 steps. Which allows you to charge smaller 3.7v batteries at greater or less current than the previously (I believe, don’t quote me) locked 350mA. You can set current for all 4 slots at once or individually.2) I found termination voltages to be excellent. 3.7v (4.2v) batteries terminated at 4.17v-4.18v, Ni-MH 1.455v – 1.48v. I would rather have batteries stop charging at just slightly below top voltage rather than over or excessively under. Note: I did have (1) Ni-MH show 1.51v on charger when full but my multimeter measured 1.48v. All other batteries displayed correct voltage.3) Safety – I put in 3 known bad 18650 batteries. It auto set current at 350mA. It allowed me to manually set current to 1A, then after a few seconds reset the current back down to 350mA. Nice safety feature.4) Longevity of batteries is important. This charger does an excellent job of determining proper charging current per individual battery. So it’s a no brainer if you want to trust the charger to set current. Or you can defy the charger choice (within limits) and charge at higher current if you want (as long as it is a good battery). Example: Charger set two Ni-MH Eneloop Pro batteries at 700mA and I changed it to 1A for a faster charge.5) Will automatically activate and repair 0 volt over discharged batteries. Uses proper charging method for Ni-MH & Ni-Cd. Will auto auto stop charging fully charged batteries.6) Has upgraded LCD display; battery type, charged percentage, charging time, battery capacity, internal resistance, charging current, Voltage. Clear easy to read from most angles. Nice job Miboxer. The Bad / not so bad1) No longer has the small battery adapter provided in previous versions. I liked that adapter. It allowed you to load smaller batteries easily in the charger. Now I have to fumble around with loading smaller batteries like I do with other chargers. Come on Miboxer this was one of the “little things” that set you apart.2) No longer has battery test mode in slot 4. This was used to accurately measure battery capacity in mAh. To me this is not such a big deal. It is a nice feature but not essential to me. I am more concerned with the performance of the charger as a charger. One word of caution. Li-ion batteries can be dangerous. Never leave batteries to charge unattended no matter how much you trust the charger. The known bad Li-ion batteries I mentioned earlier in the review got real hot when I left them on the charger. This charger does not detect the battery temp and shut off charging of dangerously hot batteries.

Smarter than me. Works well.
I have Ni-MH rechargeable batteries and already have a smart charger for them, but recently I've received lithium AA batteries and have no charger for them. I liked that this charger is so versatile in the types of rechargeable batteries that it can handle. There are four slots, and each slot charges independently. Each charging slot has a sliding bottom held in place with a spring, so you can place batteries from 1.25 inches to 3.25 inches in length into each slot. The slots are also 1 inch wide. The charger is set on the floor or table top and has a wall plug that you insert into the top when you wish to charge batteries. The charger is big: 4.25 inches wide by 6.5 inches tall by 1.75 inches deep. About 1/3 of the space is the display, which shows more information that I know what to do with. For my tests, I placed a Ni-MH rechargeable battery in a slot and plugged in the charger. It immediately recognized the correct type of battery and started charging it at 1.2V. It showed what the current capacity was, the amount of time spent charging to that moment, how much the capacity was at that moment, and much more. At the end, you know the total time it took to charge and what the ending, full capacity of the battery is. It also tells you that's it's full and quits charging. I was a bit nervous on the first battery I charged as I'm ignorant about charging specifics and the battery said it was a 1.2V battery, but the charging voltage kept increasing slowly up until it reached 1.48 volts at the end. But the battery worked just fine and showed no damage. I looked it up on the Internet afterwards, and a company that makes rechargeable batteries said that a single cell of Ni-MH battery can withstand up to a maximum of 1.78V. So this charger is certainly smarter than me! Anyway, it's easy to use and seems to know what it's doing. I'm happy with it so far.

Nice Features, But Missing Important Mode
I have many different types of this style of charger. I really like the overall balance of features, quality build, flexible power input, a nice display with all the information showing without having to cycle through readings, but I feel the manufacturer left out one important feature, a battery test mode. I believe the previous model at least had a test mode in slot 4, this unit has none. This is an important feature to have so that a batteries capacity can be verified. There are so many batteries sold these days that say one thing on the label, but end up being much less than advertised. I feel that this unit could have been a home run if they had included a test mode. My Zanflare C4 Smart Charger does a great job, but is not quite as powerful and the display is not as nice, but will do everything needed in all 4 slots. Maybe V4 will be the home run.

Battery charger to satisfy...
had plenty of battery chargers, except not one that could charge all types and sizes - recently bought a bunch of LED flashlights all with 18650 batteries. my only charger for those batteries was a 2 slot unit with red/green indicators. now I have one unit for my RCR123’s, AA Li-ION, Ni-Mh and FePO4 (garden solar lights)... and... gives me charging options and status to satisfy the techie in me. Happy camper (photographer, gardener, garager, computer geek).

Doesn't do what the description and manual says it does...
I had high hopes for this charger but it failed to deliver. Doesn't recognizes batteries correctly. Setting battery type function does not work for some batteries. Some Li-Ion batteries are indicated as NiMH/NiCd and charge to 1.5V.Overall, not worth the money. Also asked a question, but never got a response, so don't count on any customer service. This is a DON'T BUY.
