Grind is good. Machine has flaws.
I was so impressed by the Moccamaster coffee maker, that I was willing to spend 200 dollars for the KM4TT Coffee Grinder. The grinder arrived today and I was anxious to put it to use. I took it out of the box and noticed the little card that Techivorm places in with the item. It reads "This is hand built and individually tested." Well, I guess the "tester" must have been having an off day. When I removed the lid to put in the coffee beans, I noticed there was a plastic canopy in the center of the top bin. This canopy seems to be there to protect the motor. It is attached to the machine by two metal clips that go into slots on the canopy. On my machine, the plastic was broken on one end. It was very obvious to me, and I'm not even a Technivorm "tester." Also, the clear plastic bowl that holds the ground beans feels a bit flimsy, and if you are not paying attention and keep it screwed in all the way, it will vibrate loose like other reviewers have indicated. You will get coffee dust everywhere. The grind is indeed perfect for the Moccamaster coffee machine, but the design of this grinder is a bit awkward, and top heavy.. For 200 dollars, you would expect superb quality, especially from Technivorm.

Why the the problems?
I do not understand why some people don’t like this grinder. It grinds fairly quietly, very quickly, perfect grind for a drip machine and looks cool. People saying they can’t pour out the grounds without a mess....it comes with a measuring scoop. It isn’t meant to be poured. People can’t put the container back on....it takes a minute to get the feel of the threading, so what? Once you do you can put it on for the rest of your life without thought. Mess? Stuff flying around everywhere? What the heck are people doing with this grinder? Static and sticking to the sides? Ummmmmmmm give me a grinder that the fine particles don’t stick with static. Leave it in the container, it doesn’t hurt anything and just wash it out and dry it every so often as you want.I think I addressed most people’s dumb issues. It’s a worker horse that looks cool to boot. Buy it without hesitation!

Not worth it
Hard to justify this kind of money for a non-burr grinder. Also, aesthetically it feels kind of "cheap" and it's much larger physically than the pictures can illustrate

Took some getting use to, but once you've got it down, it make Technivorm coffee taste great
Does a great job! It complements the Technivorm coffee brewer admirably!

Grinds the beans evenly, but what a MESS!
I own the Technivorm Moccamaster Coffee Maker and love it. Based on that I purchased the grinder expecting great things. Not so. The beans were evenly ground, great! HOWEVER, the grinds stick into the hopper, requiring a constant opening and brushing down to get them into the container below. The static from the grinding keeps the grounds from pouring out of the container easily, causing more brushing to get them into the filter basket. When the container is opened to pour the grinds out, a lot of grinds fall all over the counter top, so, now there is a mess to clean up. Wait a minute here, all this BEFORE I get coffee? Forget it, not what I want to wake up to. I like a slow morning routine. I tried to get this thing to not make a mess several mornings, to no avail. I went back to the Chinese made mini grinder and sent this back. Very sad about that, because I liked the match to my coffee maker, AND I wanted a grinder made in the West like the coffee maker. Good luck with that.

High quality grinder
Previous to purchasing this grinder I daily used an adjustable Bosch burr grinder for over 20 years - Bosch doesn't make coffee grinders anymore but it provided excellent service for all of that time. Now, after having ground through several pounds of various coffee beans with the Moccamaster grinder I have to say that I admire and enjoy using this grinder. I find it easy to use, and it has produced very consistent ground coffee for brewing in my Moccamaster coffee maker. Yes there are some quirks about it that need to be accommodated (such as learning to replace the ground coffee receptacle without fidgeting with it), but these are easy things to accommodate for a machine that works so beautifully. In addition to producing perfectly ground coffee for use in my Moccamaster maker, I have found it perfectly suitable for use in my stove-top Bialetti coffee maker and the inexpensive drip coffee maker I have in my office.

Very hard to clean
The end product of the grinder and the moccamaster coffee maker is amazing. BUT it's extremely difficult to clean and is quite messy. also, unless you use the same beans, it's nearly impossible to go from one to the other unless you don't mind the hybrid of the fresh and whatever you grinded last. wish they had made this easier to clean, wld be 5 stars

Perfect grinder for Moccamaster brewer
Works great. It’s an odd look but so is the coffee maker. Look great together. No all you negative reviewers it’s not a burr grinder. But you know what? It has never gotten clogged up like every burr grinder I have owned. And it’s not adjustable grind. But it’s the grind recommended by Moccamaster. And that is what expected. And the best thing yet is it’s NOT made in China!
