I am happy with the speed increase with this super processor!
I purchased this chip as a replacement to my older i5 4690k. The 4790k, a member of the same Haswell family. I purchased it for the 4.0 Ghz out of the box clock speed....As with my last chip this one comes in quite a unexpected small box(not sure what I was expecting). Within the box is the processor which is contained in its own transportation sleeve. Also contained within is the stock cooler and thermal paste. I replaced this paste with a market leading brand in lieu of a water cooler that I am waiting for. I have noticed that the fan can make quite a bit of noise and the processor temp will soar when it is stressed.I have been impressed with the amazing performance boost that installing this CPU has given me and it is working very well along side my ASUS Gtx 970 Strix, with them tearing up all the games that i have on the highest settings. I am very aware that the majority of games at the moment do not require anything more than four cores but I chose this processor to future proof my pc a little. This processor has given me many options to upgrade my pc if I choose in the future. This CPU can be overclocked, hence the K and again I don't state that I am an expert in this field but I have read instances of this CPU reahing speeds in excess of 4.5- 4.6 Ghz, with there being many other reviews and websites that can give more information than my basic knowledge, so please look to them:)All in all, I am very impressed with the quality, power and ability of this chip, this is when paired with an equally capable pc build. The price of the chip is to be expected for both the name of manufacturer and quality of the product, I must complain about the need to buy a better cooling system and I think for the price it should be provided as part of the package, but that's just a small point. Great CPU and I am pleased with my purchase...

Absolutely ecstatic
I was sceptical about this processor at first. I looked for a while for an appropriate motherboard, and I could not find any solid reviews on this. Is this worth the money? What kind of heat dissipation will I be expected to need? Well I have to say I took a gamble and it paid off: marvellously. I saw in several places that it is not recommended to use the stock heat sink if it is going to be under strain, and as a gamer (And a future VR gamer) I took this advice and got a Cooler Master RR-TX3E-22PK-R1 Hyper TX3 Evo "High Performance, 3 Direct Contact Heat Pipes, Universal CPU Cooler" Black Fan. This fan is nice and cheap, which to be honest made me concerned at first. But after playing several games and putting the processor under several stress tests, the temperature has never reached above 55 degrees C, which I'm fairly certain is a solid temperature.Once the processor was installed and I booted up my PC, the first thing I noticed was the frequency Windows 10 was reporting; 4.4 GHz. I have not overclocked, and I even had to double check the product details but I was surprised to see that it is only described as 4GHz. A nice surprise, and a little extra processing power. For those people concerned with a number of cores, here is what I'm going to tell you; This processor has 8 cores. However, only has 4 physical cores, with 2 logical cores sitting on each physical core. This is not the same as having 8 physical cores. However Intel's processing technology more than makes up for it.For the price I paid for this, I have never looked back.(For those who need a motherboard, I bought this Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 4x USB3.0, 10x USB2.0, GBE, LAN, HDMI): another great purchase)

Great chip vastly improved over the 4770k
I have had this nearly a month now and it replaces a 4770k which in itself replaces a fx8350 (which is still in use).I don't care that much about benchmarks because in a way they are artificial use age meters. As much as I loved my AMD these intel chips do seem overall smother and more stable to run, that is what I most care about. This is the chip the 4770k should have been it seems to run better and cooler at any given clock speed, however after some basic tests the OC'ing head room is actully less than the 4770k but it will run faster. Got mine at 4.7ghz at 1.3v on a h105 cooler and I am pretty happy. 4.8 however seems like the 4770k was at 4.6 a tiny bit unsaable even at 1.35v, so I left it at 4.7ghz.To be honest if I didn't have plans to use the older 4770k in another system I would probably not upgraded. After all I have only gained 200mhz but at a lower temp I have gained longevity I guess. But even at the same clock settings this chip still seems better. If you are thinking about getting a 4770k or this I would recommend this one hand over fist. Hype aside it feels like this is a far superior refresh. I use my computer for quite a few hours every day, day in day out and this has improved my overall experiance to no end. But the silicon lottery has yet again dashed my hopes of a 5ghz special. Now running at normal speeds( like to keep a warranty for now) and still it seems quicker than my 4770k which was running 100mhz faster so it must be down to heat dispersing faster.
