Milk Thistle really works...
If you are buying Milk Thistle for your pup-dog, or kitty, there is obviously a problem... hopefully this will help.I cannot say for 100% sure the Milk Thistle is what did the job or if it's the only thing that did the job, but here's the story. Our 4 year old female Karelian got into some continuous loop carpet (twice) and had two surgeries within 6 months. (think of all the chems in the carpet and glue, the anesthetic, the antibiotics, etc etc) 35ft of carpet cord removed the first time, 25ft of carpet cord the second time. It was all through her stomach and intestines, so pretty significant surgeries both times. (needless to say the carpet is gone from our house!)After her second surgery, she just wasn't her spunky self and one month later she was vomiting and barely had the energy to get up and move around. Blood tests showed that her liver was "failing". Pancreas enzymes were just fine, but ALT and Lipase were through the roof. 817 and 4062 respectively. I think our little girl was pretty much poisoned and her liver was shot trying to process everything. We immediately went into rescue mode and after some research discovered that eggs/milk/bone broth are very easy to digest protein that is good for the liver, chicken/lean beef/white rice/vegetables - all home prepared and served in small quantities throughout the day- gives the liver a rest, turmeric (curcumin) aides in inflammation and pain management, and MILK THISTLE help heal the liver.I cannot testify to the quality of this Milk Thistle, I purchased because it had a standardized dose. However ... 30 days later and we just got her blood test back. Her liver is fully functioning and her enzymes are back to normal again. Way beyond our expectations. Quite probably it was all of the above : the diet, turmeric, and Milk Thistle, but I believe the diet and turmeric were supportive and Milk Thistle played the biggest "medicinal" role. The rest of her blood panel was normal, so neither the turmeric (curcumin) nor the milk thistle had any adverse effect. We've just received our second order and will keep her on it for a little while longer... not sure how long. The seller shipped fast too :)

Milk thistle
I have used this for a long time even before I bought it from Amazon and I find it should be an excellent product especially on dogs who are on long-term medication

Good but not comiting to repurchase for now
My dog eats the food with the powder inside without a problem (I mix it in a homemade food I make out with rice, meat, and veggies) and it's nice that it comes with its own 1/4 teaspoon scoop to help measure the needed quantity. I didn't notice it was mentioned on the label and the scoop was burried inside the powder so I missed this for the first few days, it was a relief having its own scoop inside. I can't speak on the effects on my dog, but hopping it does help. Until now we've been using a liquid version that is a lot more pricier so we decided to try this out. My only somewhat negative is that the amount of powder i need to use for my 65pound dog (1/2 teaspoon am and pm) ends up being a bit much and covering too much of the food. The powder is also very fine. Overall I think it is worth a try to see if it works for your pup. Not sure if this form vs liquid is absorbed better by the body.

Keeps liver enzymes in check
My dog has to be on prednisone because of his Wobblers diagnosis. I have had him on milk thistle for a year and a half. Perfect blood work / liver enzymes at every test. Definitely recommend.

It helped a great deal, though I don't believe that this product ...
Back in July my 9 year old chihuahua had elevated liver enzymes and I used Herbsmith Milk Thistle as a supplement to help aid in bringing her enzymes down. It helped a great deal, though I don't believe that this product alone helped bring down the levels alone because I did change her diet because anything she ate she was throwing up and so I had to put her on a special diet, she was also on prescribed antibiotics and had to have Sub Q fluids to flush any forming bacteria out and also to hydrate her. I'd recommend this product hands down though. I can't say that this product alone will fully cure your pet, you need to do your part as well. I do though believe that it can be a great supplement.I also want to add to please not neglect into taking your pet into getting their blood work done, even after seeing improvements. I did the mistake of not going back to the vets to make sure her enzymes were at a normal level and she got sick again. I was no longer using this product nor giving her the special diet anymore because she really had improved a great deal from July to October. I thought she was better, her jaundice was completely gone and she wasn't throwing up anymore. But her enzymes were still not at a normal level, but they did reduced down a great deal that she was able to heal, but just not completely. So we restarted her healing process again and so far so good.
