Well designed board.
Quality on these developer boards has been outstanding. Not for beginners but anyone that is used to working with the PIC line will find these are easy to use. Light on built in LEDs and switches but enough to get started right away, Great for bring your own peripherals. The MCU included is loaded with 28KB program space configurable logic, PWM, NCO, DSM making it a universal signal generator.

Best way to learn PIC
This development board, along with the free downloadable MPLAB X IDE is a great way to learn how to program the PIC18F/L chips or for beginners wanting to break into 'C' programming. The free development tools provide an excellent project-based platform for managing the development process. Very nice product.

Love it!
This is a very nice board and the included PIC16F1619 microcontroller is quite fantastic. I also appreciate Microchip's effort to make the IDE available for Linux.

Powerful board but NOT for beginner
This 20$ Curiosity Development Board is a very a very different but powerful kind of board compare to Arduino. You can set and execute multiple functions on the same chip and run interdependently. Many functions can be operated without using CPU resource too.My favor peripheral, in the board, are Timer, PWM and CLC. They can be set easy without code, and run very fast. My less favor part is DAC because it is very slow and very noise at the same time. The worst part is its poor signal linearity. The first time I try it, I almost give up and return it back to Amazon at the same day. Here is why:1. Cannot find much information on book or internet about this board.2. MPLAB X IDE is very complicate.3. Many operation concept are new compare to Arduino's.4. It is for advance user. It has a VERY steep learning curve.5. Cannot follow some examples since it demos with a different board from Microchip website. Some peripheral's name, and option are different in their demonstration.6. User much familiar with C programming coding.7. User must familiar with logical gate.8. User must has sufficiency tool to work with this board, such as oscilloscope and etc.9. Microchip company do not provide example or detail description on many peripheral such as AT, CCP, CRC, CWG, ZDC, MSSP, FVR, and etc.PIC16F1619 is a power chip, it opens a new application opportunity to me such as HDMI signal handling, and different clock signal. But NOT recommend for beginner unless you can find help from experienced user. Google "microchipdeveloper", and you will find many useful information in it.I am happy having this board in my inventory, and I will use it on my future project.YouTube reference:PWM: search "PWM for motor control with Microchip Curiosity and MPLAB Code Configurator"Coding: search "R&D #36: Beginners Bash - How to program Pic microcontrollers ep1."The reason I give it 4 starts because it is very difficult to find related documentation, example, and demonstration.

Nice but a pain to figure it out.
SOK but not easy for a casual researcher.
