Enter his sister's step son who is ecperiencing the same loss.shared grief leads to a complication Noah does not want. Not knowing that said 'nephew' had..has a long time crush on him since he was 16 and crush turns into love.Such a good read. Recommend it.

Down to personal taste
This is difficult to rate as it's more that it wasnt totally for me. The storyline was great and cara obviously knows how to write but I found the swear language/descriptive regularly used by Noah a bit too harsh for me. It made him seem harder than I expected. Make your own mind up. Definitely worth a look.

Amazing
I'm not going to say too much about this story, as I don't want to spoil it for you, but this is one book you must read. Noah's sister has a stepson Julian who turns up at Noah's door after a tragedy and through all the heartache the two become close, much to the amazement of Noah's friends. Here's hoping this is enough, and that you read this beautiful story

Beautiful story.
Cara write a great tale, and this one doesn't disappoint. I won't go into the details of the story for fear of spoilers. In this book you will be taken along on the main characters roller coaster of emotion and you feel everyone right along with him.

Fantastic!
I usually avoid stories where there is a considerable age gap between the two leads and probably would have skipped reading this if I had read the intro first. As it was Cara and I like her work I started reading without doing so and am really glad I did. I never write reviews but felt the need to to encourage others like me, who might avoid this book due to the subject, to give it a shot

Must Read. 5+ stars.
Wonderful book which has got to be one of my favourites so far this year. I love the style in which Cara Dee writes. It's to the point, no nonsense and honest. She caught me with her Aftermath books, and I've not looked back since.I enjoyed the character of Noah so much, his no nonsense, down to earth attitude just did it for me. Julian too is very well written, he is the more complicated character, his vulnerability is tangible. There's a lot of grief in the story but it doesn't drown in it. The way in which Ms Dee handles it is very real and very well done. I hate books which are overly angsty, and this one didn't go there, even though, due to the subject matter, it had every right to.The development of the relationship between the two MCs is excellently executed. Both are drowning in grief and help each other through it. They grow close and support one another. There is a hitch between the two of them, but when they finally get together as lovers proper, its beautiful. This is such a great book, so well written, with characters that are honest and fallible. I really cannot recommend it enough. It's definitely a keeper and one that I will read again. 5+ stars.

2.5 starsHmmm.....I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. The time jumps were really irritating.Really. Damn. Irritating. They made the whole story feel really disjointed and disconnected like I was constantly having to reset my emotions and take a leap in time.I'd just start really getting involved with the characters and there was another time jump. It was soooo frustrating! If I never read the words 'Two weeks later' again it'll be too soon...I would have preferred Noah and Julian to have spent more time together and less time dating/screwing other people. All of the film stuff...Noah's work...I just wasn't interested in it and found myself skipping.Honestly? The writing is great, Cara Dee is clearly a great author, but...the film stuff bored me to tears, the characters are likeable but so, so bland and nothing actually happens.I kept putting it down and having to talk myself into picking it back up. It felt like hard work to get through it.I liked Noah and Julian. I liked them together. They were seriously hot between the sheets; I just wish they had been more 'together' and less everything else. This felt like a really long book and I was actually quite relieved when it was over.

Fantastic, Loved It
Love, love, loved it!Guys this story broke me, it is such an emotional and heartbreaking read.Noah and Julian come together in the most heartbreaking way, they both lost their family in the same plane crash. Noah is Julian's Step Uncle and have been basically estranged since Julian was younger yet this tragedy brings them together again. The relationship starts off as just one person who understands what the other is going through, and they seem to make each other push forward and start living again. Then as they become closer is when maybe, just maybe Noah and Julian believe there can be something between them. This story is amazing and I am going to recommend anyone that loves a fantastic age gap, hurt/comfort and some incredibly fantastic character that you give this story a read. You will not be disappointed.

...and that's the most I could take from this...thing.Why I keep giving my money to authors that have disappointed me in the past, that's a mystery by itself. My bad.Noah, oh, Noah...I wish I could say that you brought me to tears from boredom, but that implies some kind of reaction to what I was reading, but, alas, I kept reading...with no emotions...unblinking...in semi comatose state... till survival instincts kicked in, and said to myself 'what the f... are you doing? what did you do in your life to deserve this continuous torture? And that was that!I wish I could take my money, my time, and my brain cells back. Not necessarily in that order.Good day.

Gay romance molto bello

Fabulous!
My first Cara Dee book was "Auctioned" and I was nervous about reading another one of hers. But a breath of relief to find Noah was not as dark or violent as Auctioned but no less of an engaging read. Loss, grief, pain, acceptance is all in this book, and the journey between Noah and Julian was frustrating even though you understand Noah's hesitation. A great read and I'll be reading more of hers asap

BEAUTIFULLY TOLD
Where do our favorite authors get their ideas? Their brains must be churning 24/7!When two people fall in love it is a blessing. When two people share a common tragedy it is heartbreaking. This is such a story and I loved it. As is usual, this author has given us a special story of Noah and Julian. They will face countless obstacles in their search for an HEA.LOVED this.

Perfect

Loved this story. It begins with heartbreak and slowly gets worse, but in between those moments of sadness and ugly tears there’s so much love. This story really shows the way grief effects each person in a different way.

Excellent!
This is the first Cara Dee's book I have had the opportunity to read. The writing is great and Cara Dee is a great story-telling. I love a great m/m love story, that has a little angst, little drama and a lot of sweetness and good plotting too, so I loved it!I definitely look forward to anything else she writes!

3.5 stars, rounded up
When I saw this come out, I was really hoping for something kick-ass good. Aftermath and Public Display are all time favorites but the North Novels were barely likable for me. This fell somewhere between those. The story was quite readable, not boring by any means but I was left feeling parts of were bland. That's partly just me, I suppose, as I have little interest in Hollywood or movies.I had mixed feelings about the scenes with his ex. She was definitely in the wrong but his attitude was rather cruel and vengeful, and that aspect came out again later in the story against another character. It was a slimy character and he did have a negative impact but I don't care much for the retaliation, which ended up seemed rather petty. The death of Noah and Julian's family was very sad but wasn't made overly dramatic. The process of mourning wasn't long and detailed either. Noah and Julian had never been close or spent much time around each other, even after the funeral, so there also wasn't any sense of taboo. I thought that was written and conveyed well. Julian showed up at Noah's a month after the funeral and their interactions were supportive for each other, until they began platonically sleeping in the same bed because of nightmares. After weeks of this, they finally have one night of sex. Then somehow they manage to stay roommates for nine months. That was skipped completely in a time jump. I would have liked to see some sexual tension and more of the interim interaction. It was reduced to telling, not showing. The balance of the story is largely about working on filmmaking, their various actor, director, movie industry friends and both MC's getting some therapy. Then Noah and Julian concede their feelings for each other and it is leavened by some seriously hot sex scenes, including role play! This doesn't happen until the latter half of the book. There is some private angst, public scrutiny, and friends involvement...and lots more movie making stuff. Even though there was a period where they started communicating more, and scenes of them spending time together, I had a hard time seeing real depth to them as a couple. One more point that annoyed me a bit was the dreaded "I don't label myself, but I guess I'm straight, since I only have sex with men but date women". Not once does Noah cop to being bisexual, even after getting with Julian. Julian was gay and didn't come out of the closet for a while. Along with that, Noah perpetually called Julian "kid", and that was what felt creepy. Yes there's a big age difference but, eewww.So points for interesting characters as individuals, even if I never warmed up to Noah. I did like that the parts about film making weren't overly technical, but I could have done without some of it. If the author had a purpose for including so much of the movies story and the details of the scenes being filmed, I didn't get it. It was mildly interesting seeing the actress changing from their friend into the film character. I am giving credit for the quality of the writing, character building and world building. I did also notice quite a few editing errors.

4 1/2 stars - sweet pseudo-taboo May-December romance
First things first….Noah caused me to dig out my old Donnie Darko soundtrack and I’ve been listening to Tears for Fears “Mad World” for days now.I really enjoyed Noah. I was on the fence about reading because other reviewers mentioned being deterred by angst levels and I do not do angst. But I figured since the angsty events occurred in the very beginning of the story I had a decent chance of not having a strong emotional reaction since I wouldn’t have had an opportunity to really connect with the characters yet. I was right. There were definitely moments of sadness and I might have teared up here and there – but definitely no ugly, gasping for breath, choking on snot crying.B-list Director Noah Collins finds himself single after returning home a day early from his latest project and finding his live-in gal pal of 4 years in bed with a dude she met at the grocery store. The next day a plane crash wipes out his entire family – mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew” – who were on their way to meet him for a family reunion. The universe is conspiring against Noah, so he takes to his apartment with a bottle of booze and stays there – despite the concerns of his good - film-industry- friends and fairly well-developed secondary characters. And there he stays until his 23 year old “nephew not really his nephew” Julian shows up looking for a fresh start and a temporary place to crash. Both Noah and Julian are likable characters. Noah is mostly straight but has had his “fun in college” with the same sex. Julian is gay but kinda sorta in the closet and dealing with depression and self esteem issues – but also mature for his age. They both find comfort in being the only “family” they have left despite that they’re not blood related and never actually spent any time together and thus never had an uncle/nephew relationship. But still the pseudo-taboo-ness of their relationship adds a little innocent vanilla spice. As does the 17 year age difference. The entire story takes place over a couple of years with time jumps from 2 weeks to 9 months from Noah’s perspective (additional free epilogue on writer’s website from Julian’s).There’s not a lot of heavy relationship angst between Noah and Julian but there are definite issues they need to work through and they’re apart for a chunk of time – which luckily thanks to time jumps I didn’t have to suffer through much of with them. They’re absolutely adorable together, have great chemistry and I’m proclaiming the sex – pretty darn hot. I was almost committing to 5 stars but I’m going back down to 4 (+1/2 really) because there was just a little too much minutia. I love relationship driven stories if the chemistry is there; and if I like a couple I can read 1000 pages of running errands as long as there is witty banter. Noah (the book) just too often went off on a tangent about the film that Noah (the character) was directing; and all the film talk was sort of interesting to a degree – but it was just a little too much. I honestly wasn’t all that interested in the plot of the film which was apropos of nothing. Other than to note that Julian – who double majored in art and music and is a very talented musician – wrote the score. All in all – a very sweet love story with a firm HEA.

Loved it
This is the first book of Cara Dee’s I have had the opportunity to read. As soon as I read the synopsis I was hooked. I enjoy reading books that have an unconventional type of relationship.Right from the start the author was able to catch my attention and keep it the entire length of the book. The writing was great. I was able to vividly see the characters and what they were doing. This made connecting with the them easy.Part of this story is emotional for what these men endure. This tragedy is a big part of the storyline and how it all began. However, it isn’t the main focus. Noah is a very social, fun and games type a person but when his life is turned upside down unexpectedly, he took a nosedive and becomes the opposite. He is drowning in sorrow and has no desire to fix it. That is until Julian, Noah’s nephew by marriage only, comes to stay with him. I love that both of these men are able to lean on each other to deal with their pain. Not only is Julian trying to come to terms with what happened, he also has another issue he is trying to get a handle on. Julian is gay but isn’t out. He is also conflicted because he is attracted to Noah and believes it is wrong to feel this way. Noah may not be related by blood, but he is still his uncle and many years older. After spending so much time with Julian, Noah begins developing feelings for Julian. It is hard to watch these two men struggle knowing they each want the other, but feel it is wrong.Over time they go from family, to friends, to lovers, to more. I love how strong and confident Julian becomes the longer he spends time with Noah. In turn, Julian gives Noah the strength to move on and experience what true love feels like. When Noah and Julian finally let go, their desire to have each other is overwhelming. The sex scenes are stifling hot, but they are also sweet and beautiful. It was more than just meaningless sex; they are in love. The majority of secondary characters are great. However, there is a couple of characters I would like to slap. That said, they all have a big part of the storyline. I love how the small circle of close friends Noah has, accept Julian and their relationship. They support them and love them no matter how anyone else reacts.I can’t wait to experience more books written by Cara Dee.If you love a great M/M love story, that has a little angst, little drama, a lot of sweetness and a little taboo, then you will love Noah by Cara Dee.Also as a bonus on the author’s website there is an extra prologue and epilogue in Julian’s point of view.

Loved this MM romance
The beginning of the book was meh for me, as the whole scene with Noah’s soon-to-be ex-girlfriend was a little over the top and dramatic. But even then, Noah’s vice shone through, and that’s what kept me reading. After that, I was hooked. Noah’s voice is strong, and despite his flaws, he was a narrator and character that quickly grew on me.The romance between Noah and Julian is a slow one, but oh, it’s good. I loved seeing them connect, struggle, then connect again. The way they took care of each other in the midst of so much tragedy was sweet. The age difference is not made into a big thing, which I loved. The almost-related issue was much bigger, as it should be, but that was handled well. Noah’s struggle with it wasn’t overly dramatic, but felt realistic considering the close-knit family he was from.It was a smart choice from the author to write from Noah’s perspective only. That way, we’re kept in the dark on how Julian feels about Noah, which adds tension. Plus, we know Julian has something to hide, and we would have found out too soon what it was had the story been told from his perspective as well. The writing is excellent, by the way, and the book is well edited.Noah’s job as movie director added another layer to the book, making it even more interesting. There were enough details added to make it feel authentic, without bombarding us as readers with too many facts and useless details. So I’ll forget about the beginning, and give this book a solid five stars because I really loved it.
