Everything you wanted to know about LR restorations but were too afraid to ask
As a Land Rover Series 3 owner with, I am afraid to say a very neglected project car in a barn, I was thinking about scrapping her, however with retirement looming and I have a sudden found will to put her back on the road.Originally my intention was to replace the footwells, weld up a small hole in the bulkhead, fix the steering relay, brakes, doors and exhaust and get her Mot'd, but having started to amass tools and books I have decided to strip her down completely and rebuild her from the ground up.I stumbled upon 'Land Rover Series III Reborn' by accident and ordered the book from Amazon immediately to add to my library. I used to order Land Rover Owner magazine on a regular basis - before it diversified into P38's and Defenders and in those days there were a lot of 'Series' DIY hints and tricks - as space was limited I used to cut out and paste relevant articles but they didn't answer all my questions. It seems that 'Land Rover Series III Reborn has not only incorporated all that earlier information but has added a great deal to it. This, together with the 'Land Rover Parts catalogue' and the 'Land Rover Repair Operation' manual (and the Haynes manual of course) will probably be all I need to take apart, assess and rebuild my Series III pickup. There are many interesting sections within this well written and photographed book that explain a number of optional changes and enhancements, aside from a straight rebuild, which will allow me to make informed decisions on the vehicles outcome.I can only thank the author for this well timed addition to my library - I think I might need to buy another copy to read at home (my workshop is miles away) as the original will be somewhat oily by the time I have finished! Brilliant book!

Land Rover Series III Reborn
As books of words go, this is the best I've come across in a very long while. If a "Landy" can't be restored or repaired using this magnificently detailed manual, perhaps knitting or crochet would be more appropriate for owners of Series III Land Rovers. This puts those famous manuals from Somerset in the shade; by a large margin. Thoroughly and highly recommended.
