21st Century Jewelry: The Best of the 500 Series Hardcover – August 2, 2011

Like all of the books in this series they often seem to overlook some of the better craftsman for seemingly novel ideas. While it may be interesting to some to see objects on strings or odd ball bits of stuff made into jewelry it is no substitute for genuine craftsmanship. So if you are looking for great pieces of 21st jewelry you will find some here but not all you would like to see.

So I should have sent this back as I thought it was 20th century but it wasn't. My fault. I am saying that the book is a coffee table presentation, lovely photos, limited reading. If you are into 21st century jewelry you would rate it high.... just not my thing. Sigh.

fascinating and inspiring!

This book features many of the same photographs I have seen in other coffee books and 100 or 500 series. I was hoping to see more new pieces and also more international artists.

Quite a great book! Lots of wonderful pieces of jewelry displayed to match all tastes and sensibilities. I would certainly recommend it to my friends.

This is a beautiful and inspiring book with thought provoking commentary and amazing photos. It's a great collection of all types of jewelry & perfect for any jewelry enthusiast's coffee table.

Interesting.

I enjoyed this book, which is, as the title suggests, 500-odd pictures of items of jewellery. The range of styles is considerable, and that adds variety and gives inspiration. Because of the wide range of styles, there are, inevitably, quite a number of illustrations which, while interesting the first time around, are not in a style I would personally warm to, so although I have returned to a smaller number of illustrations for inspiration, there are quite a few I would not expect to look at again in much detail. That is, I think, inevitable in such a large collection. It's a good addition to my bookshelf, though, and well worth the purchase price.Note that there are no explanations of technique. This is a set of photographs, and any words are very brief comments from a judge or reviewer.

Awful selection from a lovely series of books, I couldn't really find anything remotely stylish or classy in this book, great disappointment. I bought it on the reviews and the fact that it's supposed to be the best of the series but really not my style at all. Just goes to show we all like something different, will end up in the charity shop I expect, really horrible book.
