Works Like it should
Great vacuum break. I had a unit that would cause a noticeable vibration in the pipes. This unit does not have that issue. Works like a charm.

Well built work in the right conditions
I have a sink in my shop that I put a show head on from a watering can. the issue is that the shower head does not drain down, so my thought was this vacuum breaker would open when I turned off the water and allow the shower head to drain. unfortunately, this did not work. My theory is that the amount of water in the shower head is not enough to pull a large enough vacuum to open the valve. the valve itself is well constructed. and I suspect would work well with a large enough amount of water to pull the vacuum needed to open the valve. Since there is no spec provided on how much water is needed to have the valve open, I deducted one star (If I could it would have been 1/2 star)Overall, this is a nice part at a good price. I'll stash this one in my plumbing box for use when I need a vacuum breaker in something with a larger amount of water.

Does the job if you need one
The media could not be loaded. I never understood why people/communities think these are necessary, but if you have to have one… Item comes sealed with two additional rubber seals in addition to the one on the brass device. Also some Teflon tape just in case your spigot is worn. The exit holes on this are directed toward the hose and not out away from the hose like some I have seen. So you get a little less wet when you turn the hose off. Even has a locking bolt to help prevent theft. Comparison to similar items, this is about 20% over priced at $9 but if you add in the Teflon tape and extra washers it's spot on. Save the extras, you'll need them for something later.

High Quality hose bib vacuum breaker – absolutely necessary backflow preventer
This is a very high quality brass hose bib vacuum breaker backflow preventer. All outside hose bib faucets must have one of these. Most modern outside hose bib faucets have a built in vacuum breaker such as this. If your outside hose bib faucet does not have a built in vacuum breaker backflow preventer you need to install this attachable vacuum breaker backflow preventer at the water outlet. What this apparatus does is act like an anti-siphon device backflow preventer to stop contamination of the potable water supply. I live in a rural area. My rural Water Supply district sent me a snail mail letter explaining that I needed to boil my drinking water until further notice. I was justifiably angry that they had not bothered to notify me immediately with a telephone call or visit when they discovered that the water supply was contaminated. What had happened is that there was a main water line leak that required the main water line to have to be shut off for the repair. While the main water line was shut off there was siphon action backflow of contaminated pig trough water into the main water line. This contamination was discovered weeks after the main water line had been temporarily shut off. The contamination was discovered in the scheduled bacterial testing of the water. What had happened was that an ignorant pig farmer had a water hose inserted in a pig watering trough with the end of the water hose under the surface of the pig trough water. When the down hill main water line was shut down, the contaminated pig trough water siphoned into the main water line. The water company searched for the source of the bacterial contamination by examining all the water users upstream from the leak. They found the one pig farmer who had incorrectly put the end of the water hose under the water fill line of the pig trough. If only the pig farmer had had this vacuum breaker backflow preventer installed, like you are supposed to have, then there would have been no problem at all and all those people, including me, would not have gotten sick from drinking bacterial contaminated pig trough water.

Required in some RV parks
Many RV parks require that their visitors connect their rigs to the park water supply via such a vacuum breaker at the park faucet. The purpose is to prevent the water supply from becoming contaminated if water from the rig were to flow back into the faucet. This is possible under certain circumstances and the rig's supply often being higher than the faucet could create a backward siphon effect. There are other scenarios where you might want to install one of these. This one is nicely made with a breakoff screw for permanent installation on a hose bib to prevent unauthorized removal.

It works, it is affordable, the washers work, it has certifications
I liked:- two soft red hose style washers that actually work- an integrated washer- thread tape included- good threads- brass constructionThere's not much to dislike except that there were no instructions. Go to the product web page I suppose.I was able to get a good hand tight seal using the red washer in addition to the integrated washer on my 1979 dated spigot/sillcock. In the description pictures, the red washers look like hard plastic, but it turns out they are a nice soft silicone I haven't seen before. They work. This is actually the best fitting backflow device I've used. The others have wide threads and leak. This one includes a little pipe tape if you still have leaks. It is winter, but I gave it a quick test and it worked when I filled the hose and turned it off. I take mine off in winter to allow full drainage.Has CE and Rohs certifications. CE is the European standard and should instill confidence.Made in ChinaThe
