Convenient fixed-base desktop scanner. Works on a Mac.
Not all barcode scanners work on a Mac. This one definitely does, which is nice.Overall, this scanner was very easy to setup and configure. The factory defaults have it showing up as a USB keyboard to your computer and it scans 1D (line/"regular" barcodes) and 2D (QR type codes) very easily and accurately. The configuration is done by having the unit scan barcodes from the included instruction manual. You can reset it to factory defaults, query the version of the software, set the beep loudness after a scan, whether it looks for 1D barcodes, 2D barcodes, or both, whether it sends an "Enter" or "Return" key after a scan (versus nothing after a scan), change it from USB keyboard to USB serial port to RS-232, change the RS-232 baud rate, and the needed delay before scanning the same barcode a second time.I tested both USB-keyboard and USB-serial port. RS-232 requires a cable that's not included, so I wasn't able to test that.Everything I threw at it scanned quickly and cleanly. Even some pretty small (0.5" x 0.5" full URL QR codes) would scan, though those did take slightly more "aiming" than a full-sized barcode. All of the linear and QR codes of any reasonable size scanned very easily just by sweeping them anywhere vaguely in front of the scanner.Highly recommended.
