A game changing book for the industry!!

I absuloutley loved this book. From the writing style which was clear but concise to the interactive videos which helped explain and show how to implement the strategies. It’s a gold mine for any new or current teachers wanting to take their teaching skills to the next level.You can tell this was written with passion and expertise as all chapters are filled with relevant insight no matter the type of class / students. This is definitely a book all educators should read and keep using over the course of their careers, I will be. Would recommend 100%.

The kind of CPD I like.

Step by step book of routines for the classroom. I have just started and the ones I have tried have gone down well in my classroom.The videos are helpful (if a little unrealistic - 10 kids in a class etc etc)I am looking forward to working my way through it. Only introducing a handful of routines at a time, to embed the routines in myself to make them instinctive. It will take a while to get through the entire book, but I am pleased with the progress so far.

This book, and its accompanying online resources, has the potential to transform teaching, learning and leadership. It is illuminating, practical, concise, and thoroughly researched.By first identifying how we may overcome the main barriers to teacher development whilst managing an already heavy and complex workload, Feely and Karlin set us up for success.The techniques that follow will both improve the quality of teaching in the classroom and lead to more effective line managing out of it.

I love this whole school ‘ready to go’ teaching manual. It’s clear and concise format enables you to reflect on and take action to become a more effective educator.The brilliant supporting video library cements the theory by providing actual classroom footage of each technique, which demonstrates exactly how they should be delivered. It’s certainly a model of excellence worth investing time in.

A must have for all teachers and leaders

This is a fantastic book. It combines a solid research basis with practical ‘what to do’s’ to enable you to translate theory into practice. It is an essential guide for teachers offering strategies to develop their pedagogical understanding and practice. It works as a great companion to other teaching and learning strategies, such as TLAC, but goes further by breaking each strategy down at a granular level, this makes the playbook a very practical tool for teachers and leaders. It’s versatile book that will enable classroom practice to be transformed! Cannot recommend enough!

Good effort - poor video

Good book as a parallel resource to Doug Lemov’s “Teach Like a Champion”. If you know TLaC, you can easily see where MANY of these techniques are coming from - and then given different labels.The first seven chapters prior to laying out the techniques are well written and are full of important ideas regarding professional development.Regarding the techniques themselves, there is something positive about the simplicity of presenting the techniques in a very step by step and pared down fashion. There is certainly a clarity to this approach. At the same time the lack of context makes these techniques feel oversimplified and limits their usefulness for PD.I was hoping that the videos would help to make up for the oversimplification, but unfortunately the videos look totally staged - unlike those made in real classrooms with real students in the TLaC videos. Here the teachers look as if they were awkwardly running through scripts and the students move robotically.I would use some of this book as supplementary material for PD on teaching technique, but I would hesitate using any of the videos at all.
