Great adapter
Bought a cheap one from an auction site, literally fell apart 1st time I used it, and by that time was unable to send it back, they do say you get what you pay for, it was Dear, and it wasn't good, however this adapter is well made, yes its not the cheapest but it feels solidly made, used it throughout the Euro football to watch my firestick on my monitor, was absolutely fantastic no issues at all, had seen some reviews that stated you need to power it for sound, I have it plugged into my rechargeable soundbar and it worked fine wirh being powered.Picture and sound quality excellent can highly recommend this adapter you will not be disappointed at all.

Works with 2nd gen Chromecast and 1080p TV
The 3 hdmi to VGA converter I'm trying for use with 2nd gen Chromecast and TV with broken HDMI ports but functioning VGA port. First one claimed to function without separate usb power supply - additional power was drawn through Chromecast causing overheating (Chromecast cuts off after about 30mins) and potential damage to Chromecast. Second one was Amazon basics - didn't work at all. Third time's the charm, this seems to work without causing the Chromecast to overheat. This cost more than the alternatives but seems to be the only one that actually works. Cheaper than a new TV!

Device such Chromcast detects the max resolution and adapts their output to it (there is no way to manually specify it).The HDMI device (Chromecast or Kodi box) detects that the “output device” (the converter) is able to output at 1080 and therefor switchs automatically to this resolution, while my screen is only able to render 720 (VGA 1024).As there is no way to force a specified lower resolution I can’t use it.I assume that poeple having a need for a such converter don't have necessarily a recent screen or projector able to display Full HD. Most of the Full HD devices have already an HDMI input.

Worked great for my chromecast to vga on tv with broken hdmi
I got this to use my Google Chromecast on an HD tv with broken HDMI board. This worked a treat. Its worth noting you will need to get the sound into your TV using the audio Jack on the adapter. On my particular tv I had to use audio jack to phono leads to get sound in. This little adapter saved me the cost of buying a new TV for steaming content. I had tried other adapters but this one worked using a USB adapter to power it (not supplied although micro usb cable is)

Limited use depending on VGA output device
I didn't expect too much for £15, after all I was trying to get my unused Fire TV Stick (first generation) to work into a Samsung SyncMaster 570S that I bought around 20 years ago to put a 'TV' in the garage on the cheap. It hasn't worked, despite doing as others have said and changing the TV Stick display settings (I've tried them all). I've also tried it on a NowTV stick and my 'TheC64' again with no joy. As an aside....if you were a fan of the Commodore 64 in the 80s and haven't yet discovered TheC64, just get one....you won't be disappointed. So, why 3 stars and not 0? Well, I then plugged in my Raspberry Pi 4 and it just worked and did so very well with great clarity, so that is where it will stay. The adapter probably lacks a few controls that would let you adjust screen properties, refresh rate, scaling, etc, that may give you more success with more devices, but I guess that would push the price up. For £15 though, you may think it is worth taking a chance. Clearly it works, but it is probably very dependent upon your output VGA device's ability to auto adjust to what ever the adapter is sending it.

Put simply, it worked for me!
Update... I have removed my initial negative review after the helpful comment from the distributers below. The instruction booklet that came with the adaptor has tiny script which I struggled to read. Hence I did not realise that this adaptor needs to have a USB connection in order to work. It would be helpful to show this USB cable in the promotional images, and to emphasis the need for this in the adaptor description as I am sure I am not the first person to have purchased this without realising the need to have this connected to a USB socket. Once I got it working it was fine.
