Used to add bike tire to peg perego gator. Hex drive better than Philips and likely can be removed down the road if need be.

This is less of a review and more of passing along of some basic information about stainless steel (which the mfr. is not doing here). Stainless steel comes in different grades, mostly based on the amount of chromium vs carbon steel in the make-up. Series 300 stainless is the most common. Its what you see on your kitchen appliance fronts. But as steel strengths go, series 300 is rather soft. Certainly too soft to be self-drilling (as this product claims to be).So series 400 stainless steel is harder and stronger and used for products needing more strength, such as certain rifle barrels and self-drilling screws that need a greater degree of rust protection than carbon steel. But with that strength (and greater carbon content) comes less protection against corrosion.And that is the reason that these screws come with a hard black coating, and not just for decoration. The more of this coating that can be preserved, the less likely they will rust. My plan is to drill pilot holes with a regular drill bit before installing the screws. This should help preserve more of the coating.So if you need BOTH self-drilling AND stainless steel, this is likely as good as you are going to get. If you want more protection (and don't need black color), then pre-drilling and then using a series 300 screw might work depending on the material you are fastening.Most everything is a compromise.

small screws self tapping and are black. Nothing wrong with them.

Inexpensive

These used to be great, #14 fit 3/8" socket like it should.The last order I got, all three boxes were #14 but now incorrectly fit a 10mm socket.No way to contact seller and found out too late to return.

I like that stainless come in black color

The finish of the screws is well done and fit drill socket with no issues like others have reported.Where the product fell down for me ... they are not self-drilling into 1/16" steel posts for use on deck installation. The first 4 regardless of speed (tried different speeds) the points shattered/broke.Ended up having to drill each spot with a small pilot hole to install doubling the time -- once they had a pilot hole to use they installed fine BUT that defeats the purpose of self-drilling.
