Global Objects: Toward a Connected Art History

Excellent item arrived right on schedule!

This reads like an introductory textbook (I'm a retired professor), but I couldn't figure out what sort of introduction to what field. Here's a sentence chosen almost at random (beginning of Chapter 3): "While realization is locally based and often leads to regional aesthetics, its social basis does not necessarily restrict the performance of the artisan and lead to discrete pockets of stagnancy or isolated islands of tradition." That sentence needs a lot of unpacking. It's also where I threw in the towel.
