Just Fantastic!
This book series is so endearing and full of amazing details. It'll also make your little one laugh out loud too. We can't get enough of Dory and can't wait for the next book to come out. For those who own the other volumes (#1 and 2), I have to say that I find this one has even more heart than some of the others. The part near the end where she overhears her parents talking about her reading struggles actually made me tear up the first time I read it. The message-- that reading (or any difficult task) is something you have to work for -- is one that is really great for kids too. WI would also say about Dory generally that if your child likes funny bridge books, I find this set to be a much better example for kids than one of the more popular book series of this genre, Judy B. Jones. Although Dory's sister and brother are quite mean, she herself is pretty sweet and well-behaved, with the exception of a doctor's office chapter in Book 1. (She attempts to give the doctor a shot with her lollypop stick.)

Not a good influence for young minds
After three chapters, my child was exposed to characters with bad language, and mean behavior towards siblings. There is also a “villain” character that was unsettling. So many better stories out there for children than this book.

Captivating
I was intrigued by the reviews that said "good for reluctant readers." I had a reluctant reader for sure and was searching for books that would engage and inspire her. We read this in three nights - it was so enchanting, laugh out loud funny, and heart warming. I could see the wheels turning in her six year old head - and all of us, Mom, 6 year old, and 9 year old brother, found things to love and relate to in Dory. I didn't try to make this a lesson (i.e. lecture) about readying and Dory being brave. I just let it be. But low and behold - the fights and tears over reading completely stopped. Not only that - it's the only book that the kids have picked back up and asked to read "their favorite part" again, and then got so wrapped up in the story, that we ended up re-read the whole book cover to cover. We just love Dory. Can't wait to read more in this book series!

I give them for every birthday gift, and everyone always gets addicted
All of the Dory books are gems, which will often send me and my husband into fits of laughter as we read to our daughter (6 years old.) The humor is inventive, the language is kind and imaginative in non-canned ways, and the world is a joy to spend time in. Also: no princesses, no guns, no tired out-of-date little girl cliches (moms, you know what I mean. And no offense Pinkalicious and My Little Pony or Uni the unicorn..or maybe just a little.) I give these books as presents for every birthday party and everyone I give them to gets addicted.

Team Gobblegracker
My 5 year olds favorite story line! About a cute little girl with a big imagination. Just be prepared to have several conversations with a chicken, using a banana as a phone

Did we get a bad copy?
I'm pretty confused and wondering if we got a bad copy.... the book ends on a cliff hanger? Mrs. Gobble Gracker becomes a grown up again and then that's the end? My 3 year old doesn't mind but I feel like there must be a chapter missing. Can anyone confirm that we got a bad copy? Book goes to p. 151 when Mrs. Gobble Gracker calls "ready or not, here I come" and then there's a teaser for the next book.

Can't wait for a #4!
My 6- and particularly my 4- year olds adore this series. My 4-year old made me read aloud all three books a couple of times (and would try to make me read it again if I let her) and goes back to "read" it, looking at the images frequently. We are on pins and needles for another installment of Dory's imaginative adventures!

4- and 6-year-old love the whole series
My daughter is 4 and she loves this series. She and my 6-year-old son play "Dory, Violet, and Luke" and my daughter pretends she gets phone calls from Mr. Nuggy. Good humorous fun for young kids with imaginations.

The best children's series of books I've ever read.
All of these Dory books are simply wonderful; they’re imaginative, fun, entertaining and fabulous tales following the adventures of a six year old girl with a spectacular imagination. This third book is the most popular for re-reading with our own little six year old ‘rascal’ and I must say it’s my favourite too.The strength of this book is partially thanks to the excellent groundwork set out by the first two, we now have a regular cast of friends and foes - both real and imaginary - who are already well established. This allows the story to be more focused and as a consequence, it’s the most well-paced and structured of them all. Combined with the lovely artwork within the pages which really help to bring these fantastic characters to life, it’s a sheer delight to read again and again, comfortably holding the coveted spot of most read book on the shelves. We can’t wait for the next installment, until then, it will be read many times over.

Bella storia
Perfetto per una bambina di 6 anni. La lingua è semplice. E la storia è molto interessante. Peccato che l'immagini sono bianchi e neri..
