I have been a mink oil user since I was a child...
I have yet to find a better product for protecting leather. Now, this Kiwi states itself as "Mink oil Show Polish", but don't believe for a second that it can't do more than that.Mink oil will work on any leather. I personally prefer wearing lambskin leather gloves in the wintertime as they allow the grip on the steering wheel of your car to be MUCH more positive. This is important because controlling your car in the wintertime requires more attention on the part of the driver, and not worrying about a hand slipping at just the wrong moment can be critical. So one use of this mink oil is to rub it all over your gloves. To do this, I open the tin, put on my gloves, and then dip into the mink oil, and using the gloved fingers, I rub it totally over the entire surface. Then I set the gloves aside for a day. Then for the entire winter, those gloves will resist water and give me a great grip, whether I am driving my car, or pushing my snow plow. For usage on the shoes, generously apply it over the entire shoe, and use a toothbrush to get it totally into the seam between the soles and the rest of the shoe. Most of the time, should you step into a puddle of water, this will keep most, if not all, of the water from seeping into your shoe. Of course, this doesn't work in every case, because sometimes shoes have a design flaw in this area. Also, if you stand in water long enough, it will likely get in, but at least, most of the time, it should keep your feet dry.So, not only is a good for grip, and for water resistance, but it also smells pretty good too.

Revives damaged leather
I purchased this after doing some research to find out how to save a belt of mine that was ruined. I have a high-quality leather belt that I've worn for more than 10 years. It aged nicely up until this spring, when I wore it to Six Flags. We went on a few water rides, and I got doused on one of them. The following day, the part of the belt that got wet (about 18" worth) had shriveled up, lost all its flexibility and become dark and brittle and cracked. Figuring Kiwi was the way to go since all they seem to make is shoe products, I ordered a can and followed the instructions, applying a fairly generous amount with a napkin, working it into the cracks, and wiping off the excess. After 24 hours, the belt was softer and the smaller cracks had filled in. After 3 days, it had started to "swell" back to its normal size and the larger cracks were fading. Now, about 3 weeks later, the belt is flexible again. I'd say about 60% improved. I plan to apply another generous coat and let it sit for a few more weeks, but so far I'm pretty pleased. If it works as well the second time as it did the first, I think I can restore the belt to nearly pre-dousing condition.Good product. Follow the instructions and be prepared to let it soak in for at least a few weeks.

Sounds like a pain
I bought a pair of leather (treated "waterproof") work boots. The waterproofing lasted all of a month. I have treated my boots with this mink oil and they are once again waterproof, and have been so for a year and a half now. That said, couple of notes for success. Before applying this mink oil I left the boots to dry out for a week. When applying the mink oil I used a stiff toothbrush to work it into the leather and stitching and everything. I let it "work in" for a day. I then repeated the process three more times. Sounds like a pain, but it was worth it. The boots are and remain waterproof. Just to be safe I repeat the application once a year. It's been four years now, my boots haven't dried out or cracked. The boots remain flexible and waterproof.

Excellent product
I bought the Kiwi Outdoor Mink Oil specifically to use on my dig's leather leash. It is now as soft as butter. I also used it on my husband's brown leather shoes. They are restored to their "like new" appearance. The only reason I did not give the product five stars is it was obnoxiously expensive.

Good Stuff for shoes and boots ...
I've been using Kiwi Mink Oil for decades and it has done a great job of keeping my work boots in good shape. It will waterproof to a degree as all mink oils will. Good for conditioning your other leather goods in addition to shoes. If you have work boots that get a lot of hard wear then I recommend this highly to help prolong the life of your boots. As for me a pair of boots will not last more than a year or so and it I didn't keep the leather in good shape they wouldn't last that long. Try it there is a reason it's been around for so long.

Way to go for long lasting durabale protection with waterproofing
Works excellent waterproofing and protecting when applied correctly, I clean with Kiwi Saddle Soap and let completely dry first. Also two applications is better than one for really harsh wet conditions.Yes will darken your leather a bit but every waterproofing product I have tried does also. Thing with this product is once applied will last quite a long time while certain other spray on products tend to wear off quickly.

Fine on worn and nubuck leathers, great for conditioning
Product can image is different than pictured but it is the same product virtually. Conditions very well and waterproofs without ading a greasy slime like Sno-Seal. Everyone says not to use it on suede or delicate leather but I've used it on all my distressed looking leather and nubuck and it always does just fine.... if it's not super cheap leather that is. I used this recently on my Teva De la Vina boots and it made a world of difference after wearing them for 1 year I treated them with this product and love it.

Excellent Product for Leather
Protects and preserves leather. I used it for several years on military boots that I wore in severe climates: Snow, rain, ice, mud, desert heat, etc. Works on untanned leather but it will darken this type of leather.

30 years plus of use
My father showed me how to keep my leather boots waterproof and in good shape using mink oil paste over 30 years ago. I've continued to use it over all these years. Just the best for leather hiking and winter boots.
