General Finishes Stain Blocking Primer, 1 Quart

I’ve used this product in the past multiple times, and it’s normally amazing. The only product that truly blocks bleed through. When I opened it the product was hard as concrete. It clearly must have frozen while the seller had it. I will stick to only buying it at my local retailer now.Edited june14: contacted the seller, and they made it right by sending me a brand new can. I opened it up and used it. It worked amazing as always. The only product that truly prevents bleed through

This is a spendy gallon of primer but worth every single penny. I used this to stain block and seal some VERY dark stained kitchen cabinets prior to painting with GF Milk Paint in Seagull Gray. This primer is absolutely the best and I have ZERO concerns about that dark stain coming through. Why risk having to completely redo your kitchen cabinet makeover from scratch by choosing a lesser primer? I don't know about you, but my 70+ hours of work put in on this project is worth a heck of a lot more than the premium cost of this primer. I don't plan to ever paint my cabinets again and this product gives me that peace of mind. I had no problems with the product at all - it was perfectly fluid when delivered, no clumps or other issues. I'd buy from this seller again.

I’ve painted lots of furniture and decor try this after. A you tuber talked it up so highly. It didn’t cover well and the paint adhesion was less than par. Won’t use it again.

Great primer. Blocks most under coats. Very sticky. Takes some work to apply correctly. Worth the effort.

This paint arrived with a dent in the front of the can.

this worked GREAT! this piece was black and I didn’t want to sand it mainly because of all the tongue and groove. i am using it in my laundry room temporarily but may keep it here because it turned out great!

This primer is a life saver! A client brought me an old mahogany stained dresser that she wanted painted white, and I tried to talk her into using a dark color because I knew bleed thru was going to be an issue. I initially tried Zinsser primer and the pink streaks appeared before it even dried. My only other option was to try this, and since my local GF retailer doesn't carry it, I ordered from Amazon. It arrived within 2 days, and I immediately tried it n my problem piece. Even with just one coat, there was absolutely NO BLEED THRU!!! Two coats are on now, and it looks better than I ever imagined. Tomorrow I'll be painting with GF milk paint and can't wait to see the results. This stuff is well worth the price. And the quick shipping and proper packaging were very much appreciated!
