Great clay, be sure to read instructions

I used this clay for the first time for a DIY octopus lamp. I have never sculpted before, so I don't really know how it compares to other clays but I would say that it was fairly easy to use and it was super convenient that it air dries. The clay is very soft when you mix it, then becomes for firm over time. It seems to work best about 20 minutes after mixing up to 1hr+, depending on how much you're using at a time. I would recommend starting with a small amount first to get an idea of how far it goes and how long it takes before it starts hardening.I had no issue getting it to stick to the foil I used as a base, and blending new clay on top of the hard clay was fairly easy when I used a little bit of water.Because of the nature of this clay, it will stick to your skin for a while if you get it on you. They recommend using disposable gloves when working with the clay, which I would second.

Superior Two Part Product

I used to use a different brand of two part modeling epoxy. It the one I was introduced to when I first started using this type of product. I found it a bit difficult to use, but soon learned tricks to make it easier. When the cost of that product went up, I looked for something else and found Apoxie Sculpt. After reading the reviews I figured I may well give it a go. It cost about the same, and there was more product in the containers. I am sold on this product and will never go backIt is softer coming out of the containers. It is easier to mix the two parts together. It mixes faster and more evenly. It sticks to armatures and items very well. I use cornstarch on my glove fingertips to keep it from sticking me. That works very well and does not interfere with the product setting up properly. I can blend it easier than the old stuff. It hardens in the same fashion and I can trim small pieces off even after it is fully set with a razor blade. Ii comes in different colours if you want or need that. I do not as I paint my items to complete them.Over all, this is an easy to use product and you will get the results you want from it. I do recommend wearing gloves to prevent skin irritation. I wear gloves, as I stated earlier and just use a bit of cornstarch to prevent sticking. Give it a try. I doubt you will regret it.

Im addicted!

I love this stuff. Been using it for awhile now. Ordered here as opposed to my normal ordering via Aves. Cheaper than manufacturer site with prime ordering. Received as ordered and quickly, which was much appreciated as I was almost out of my supply. I sculpt with it, and when dry I carve on it, sand it, paint it, and mix stuff into it and mount stuff on it when wet. I make tools, make jewelry, gifts, faux raku pottery, and use it for repairs around the house. When cured it is so hard and sturdy, while maintaining such great detail. Tips: Keep your fingers away from your face when handling it, nasty rash results. Use hydrocortisone to clear it up. Working time shortens on hot days to 1hr..speed sculpt! Its best to sculpt in stages, in small quantities. If your doing a large sculpture you can sculpt as you would clay, where you use an inner form of foil or newspaper, but you can leave it inside in this case and seal it up with an outer layer. It will slump, so use molds or other items to prop parts as they cure. Also, just get the color wheel or add pigments to a white base, not really necessary to purchase a rainbow, just mix color into part a, then match the mixed amount ball size to your part b. Oh yeah, best thing i have found to keep surfaces and your hands sticky free is olive oil, or a hand cream with olive oil. I use olive body butter from the body shop, its works grwat even to smooth clay surfaces. After it cures, just rinse the cured clay in blue dawn and water. Btw, use only blue dawn, a dish scrubber and warm water to clean up. Dont forget under your nails, and dont wash uncured clay down sink, it cures under water. You can slow the cure by sticking it in the freezer, and speed the cure by adding a little more part b to part a, instead of the normal 50-50 ratio. Using the olive oil, you can then start with refinements, mica, or whatever while it is still curing, or begin sculpting with it right away, rather then having to let it rest for 15 mins after mixing to get a better sculpting consistency. Anyways, love love it, and I will order again for sure. I'm addicted to the stuff!! Picture shows cured pieces painted with acrylics, mica, alcohol inks, and embellished with stuff. Middle bottom item has a polymer clay base.
