You cannot remove the keyboard from the cover.

Q: How do you make the arrow keys stop highlighting when you're just trying to move the cursor? It's like the Shift button is automatically held down.

I don't believe that this is actually something that is possible the way it is designed. However, this is a question that sumsung customer service will know better.

Since this is a 12.4" Samsung tablet it should be compatible.

Q: is this keyboard more stable on your lap than regular one with tracpad

If you type on your lap a lot this unit locks everything in place as a single unit and works well. The more expensive Samsung keyboard/cover (with a trackpad) the hinge between the keyboard and the tablet is very flexible on the more expensive unit and wobbles a little as you type on your lap
