Ikenaga Iron Works Taiyaki Maker, Iron Casting, Iron Supplement

I bought this taiyaki mold in April 2024. I'm delighted with it. I love cooking with cast iron.When the mold arrived, I seasoned it by lightly but thoroughly coating it in avocado oil (any high-heat oil will do), then placing it, propped open, on a baking sheet in the oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour. (The baking sheet is to catch oil drips. Don't attach the wooden handles until after seasoning it!)I removed it from the oven, let it cool, then attached the wooden handles.My daughter thoroughly oils the taiyaki molds every time she makes taiyaki. She also makes sure to heat the mold until it's quite hot before adding the batter, but then she cooks the taiyaki at medium to medium low heat on a gas range.

I was looking and looking and looking and looking for one that iron and not aluminum’s this is great. The wooden handles are sturdy and the iron is strong and well balanced. Once you close it it balances and cooks the taiyaki really evenly.

I originally bought this back in Jan. 2022 (forgot to write the review until now). I was looking everywhere for a cast iron mold as I did not want use one with nonstick coating. This works great!It arrived with a few tiny spots of rust here and there, so I checked with the seller at the time (they were named "Classic sweet *Correct FULL NAME is needed to ship" at the time, I don't know if it is the same seller now). It was great customer service! They verified that it should be fine to use, per the manufacturer. I just scrubbed it a little with steel wool and refinished with oil. Was good to go. Made some tasty taiyaki with it!

As long as you know how to use a cast ironThis piece does a perfect job on making fun taiyaki.My boys love em, and i use different fillings each time.Totally worth the money and wait! (Shipping took a bit long, but worth it)
