Vogue® Sewing: Revised and Updated

It Deserves The Title 'VOGUE'
I cant think of enough/better words to describe the full content of this book! Most of it, have already been covered by other customers... I guess it means & helps a lot when the very same book is revised and updated! For a novice like me, I kept opening this page and that, when it comes to forgetting things...there is so much to remember when one is new (just like other things in life!) but this book does help and is now my sewing companion. Not only it gives me ideas on sewing, it also helps build my confidence and appreciating my shape more! I do not feel guilty anymore standing in front of a mirror in a fitting room and wondering why the lovely looking jackets, skirts, tops or coats just do not look right on me, though they are actually my size. The secrets are (which of course are among many more tips given!)having an accurate measurement to your own body shape/size and also the right pattern to work on that 'special' you.. which obviously, can only be achieved when you put on bit more effort into learning to make your very own clothes. So ladies, do not worry if those clothes behind the shop window do not meet your expectations, its not you, its just your unique curve which is too hot for the clothes to handle! Thanks again to all that made this book a success and must say, I love the illustrations and the colour code for the pages! Excellent VOGUE!

Must have for your sewing library
It's definitely worth the price! I think I can safely say it's the best sewing book I have ever read, now I feel like I've wasted a lot of money on other books which don't even cover 10% of the material. It is full of knowledge for beginners+ and advanced sewers (if you're a complete beginner I would recommend watching some youtube tutorials first and making some easy projects to see if you're really into sewing. It's a great book but it's quite expensive now). It's a revised version so it has more "modern" techniques as an original book is in my opinion outdated.

Essential book of skills for any sewer of any type of garment
Brilliant book. So much to learn here whatever your level of skill. Well set out in logical chapters so it's easy to find what you're looking for. As much a reference book as a nice book to dip in and out of. Well written and informative, it's great for reading up or refreshing the memory before undertaking a new or unfamiliar skill. Covers foundations of home sewing as well as couture skills. Recommended to all sewers who wish to make any type of clothing. Eleven out of ten!

For all sewers of all levels
A book for sewers of all levels of competence. Buy it as a beginner with your first machine, and you'll still be referring to it 20 years later. Its information is timeless and correct, whatever the current fashion or fabrics and whatever you might be sewing. The only tiny criticism I have is that it is awkward to use when actually following instructions on specific techniques for the first time; I need to use bulldog clips to hold it open. I would prefer it to be spiral-bound for that reason only.

GOOD BOOK BUT
This encyclopaedia of sewing is good, but I feel that Vogue could have taken more pictures to insert in the book than just doing common drawings to explain techniques. Its a good source of information which covers a very wide terrain of couture techniques and garment formation. It is thick and heavy and makes for some seriously good reading for inquisitive creatives such as myself and things you need to do are explained step by step - Lovely addition to my library.
