Are the drainage slots all across the surface, or only around the edges?
Is the plastic bpa free?
What size are drainage holes? (I'm wondering about types of seeds which will/not fall through, ie, alfalfa vs sunflower)
What rinse method, quantity of seeds and general care is best to prevent mold growth? I’m on day 3 of broccoli sprouts and already see mold forming.

Very happy first timer

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but I decided to give it a try anyway. Growing sprouts or micro greens is a totally new thing for me, I had no idea what to do. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to see how to get started since you are not given any guidance as to how much to add to the trays. The trays do feel like a hard, easily broken plastic but I’m the only one handling them and, with no soil, it’s not heavy at all. My first batch is ready on the third day although I’ll leave them one more night to have for breakfast. I’m so excited to taste the Nature Jim’s Sprouts ; you see they are literally pushing the top right up!I read you buy another set and stack them so I may be getting two more.I’m very happy and recommend for new growers.Oh, I was worried about drawing bugs, I’ve seen no signs so far. The weather is changing and I usually get a few ants. If it becomes an issues, I’m thinking as I type, put a stripe of bug tape around!

Great!!

This is easy to use but it’s definitely not for Sprouts bean because it doesn’t has enough height for them totally grow. I will buy a bigger one for Sprouts bean and use this one for salad mix.The photo is 3 days grow and you can see it’s getting busy already.Other than that, it’s a good buy.

Cute Sprout unit

I've been sprouting for over 50 years, first with jars and mesh tops....Units like this make sprouting so much easier. I have another unit similar but it is round with vents for drainage around the outside edge. This sprouter has the vents throughout the bottom. THe problemwith this is that the ends of the sprouts go through the holes. You can pull them up but they often get damaged in the process. The unit is rather lightweight....But, overall for a beginner sprouter and if you want a square one to fit in a particular spot, as I did, its alright.

The perfect size

Just what I needed to make small batches. It works well. It does not take up a lot of space. The seeds do not fall through the holes. I literally have a fresh batch of micro-green within 3-4 days.

Works Well for Me

This was my first time growing sprouts, and it works very well for me. I used Nature Jim's Sprouts Salad Mix, which contains alfalfa, radish, broccoli, and clover seeds. I soaked the seeds for 24 hours before adding them to the sprouting trays. The seeds are tiny, but soaking basically doubles them in size. The soaked seeds did NOT fall through the slots in the sprouting tray. I cover the tray with dish towel the first two or three days, to block the light. When the sprouts start to appear, I set the trays outside for an hour or two each day, and leave them indoors the rest of the day. (The outdoor time seems to green-up the sprouts.) The picture is after 7 days. At that time, I refrigerate the sprouts in a a different container. (See picture with sandwich.) Properly refrigerated and hydrated, the sprouts last about a week - by then I've grown a fresh batch!Something to consider - make sure you are aware of the size. It's not very big. Measurements are provided in the description. From my experience, the sprouts you grow in a week last about a week for two people using the sprouts in salads and on sandwiches. So - it's a good size for us. Second consideration - because of the stacking design, the sprouts in the bottom tray can grow only about 3 inches. As you can see in the picture, that's fine. You could always unstack the trays.Recommended. Ordering a 2nd one.

Super cheap! Bad design flaws in slits for water!

First off-this is WAY overpriced. Very cheap plastic that could be bought at a dollar store! Also SUPER SMALL! Pay attention like other reviewers said to the size dimensions, this will only provide enough sprouts for a couple of sandwiches! Trays came apart three times when I tried to pick it up to water it. The slits for water drainage are larger around the outer edges of the lid, so 90% of the water goes to the seeds on the outmost part of the square. I stopped using the top lid since the water hardly fell on the entire middle section of the seeds. I separated the two plastic trays, and just lightly sprinkled water over all the seeds. When using the top lid the bad design flaw is this-1) The slits on the lid are VERY tiny until it reaches almost the outer edge of the lid, then the slits are bigger. The issue with this-most of the water if not all of it reaches the outer parts of the container, so the seeds in the middle circle area don’t get water.2) The water pulls in all four corners. PLEASE READ OTHER REVIEWS. Every time I watered my seeds I had to manually pour the water out so my seeds wouldn’t rot and mold, since the water stays trapped on the corners. The bad design in this again is that the slits are SO much bigger towards the outer corners of the container lid that all the water goes towards the edges, and pools there. This container cost $13, for less than $5 you can go and get yourself a plastic tray with drainage holes from your local garden center and soak and place the seeds in there. The surface is even and the drainage holes all symmetrical so there would be no issues on pooling or un-even watering.I am returning this product, as it is flimsy and cheap. I have to do too much moving the containers around just to evenly disperse the water. Lastly this container is SO small(as other reviewers have posted) the amount you grow is probably good for a couple of sandwiches. For our family of five, we could probably each get a couple of bean sprouts per person! WAY SMALL. The pictures show it as being MUCH bigger. Save your money. I guess the other reviewers don’t realize that you can get so much more for your money! Change the design in this garden container and make it stay together better and distribute water evenly and lower the price!

Amazing! So easy to use.

I read a review about the plastic being too thin. It is a little thin/delicate but don't ne rough! Slow down and take your time with washing it and assembling it. Within the first day, after soaking over night, most seeds started to sprout. By Day 4, I had fully sprouted seeds and placed the container near a sunny window so they would turn more green. It worked within a few hours. It has two levels so you can make a good amount of sprouts. I'm impressed at the ease of this container and I tried the jar drain way of doing this ... it failed for me. The sprouts stunk and started to rot. This container allows for superior grown, and minimal effort. The sprouts don't smell strong either. Highly recommend this product.Lastly, I just left the container on my countertop, in a corner, behind some items, in a shady spot. I didn't have to keep them in a "dark spot" and it worked like magic.Bravo!

Poor quality and already damaged

Thin and brittle plastic. Cheap product. Not sure how safe it is for food. Arrived with cracks. Disappointing. May also be too small until or unless this is for one person use.

Good for price. Easy to use.

Value for money, great, easy to use, very great. Quality and sturdiness? Not so much. I’ve purchased about ten of these over the years. Which they cane more durable as I have every colour under the rainbow from mix and match parts. Definitely a more delicate plastic “.

Simple and works but not very durable.

I saw this recommended by a you tuber so decided to give it a try. I make spouts regularily for my budgies and I’ve been looking for a better way then just mason jar. It’s not perfect but it does what it should.Pros:- Reasonable Price- You can sprout one tray or both or start them a few days apart so you always have fresh sprouts available.- Simple to useCons:- Not the best quality. After just a couple weeks the water tray is already cracked on mine.- The levels aren’t tall enough for larger sprouts like wheatgrass or green peas so they start to push apart if you have them stacked and the lid won’t fit after a couple days.- Some water still sits in the trays so you have to tilt it to fully drain or they seem to get a little moldy/slimy.
