Great Book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author is very well versed in the study of philosophy and does a very good job of presenting the topics. I especially enjoyed the author;s underlying theme that IFA has its own inherent philosophies -- the philosophy of the Yoruba people -- and that the "western" world has long only viewed classical philosophers as true philosophy, ignoring all schools of thought from the East (And Afrika, especially Sub-Saharan Afrika). This is a critical flaw for philosophy as a entire academic discipline, as it narrows the scope of the study to a very Eurocentric view. Adegbindin really strikes a blow at these traditional views and SHOWS the reader that via the corpus of IFA (ODU IFA), the Yoruba people have been passing along the philosophy of their fore-fathers since time immemorial, and that indeed "philosophy" as a discipline goes far beyond the likes of Nietzsche, Freud, Jung, or even Socrates. Philosophy has existed since the beginning of humanity, and it existed far beyond the Europoid world that academia has traditionally associated with philosophy. This book shows that IFA is the philosophy of the Yoruba people and that it is just as valid a line of thought as any other philosophy in the world.

Buy it used if you must
One of my least favorites on the Ifa tradition. Verbose and overwrought.
