I love the options
This set comes with three different hardnesses of lead, which gives many options when sketching. The lighter hardness is easy to blend for shading, while the hard lead gives crisp, clear lines. A couple of the pencils had a tough time keeping lead, meaning that the lead in the pencil seemed to break quite easily. Other than that, this is a great starter set and I recommend it to any beginner as a gift.

I love these pencils!
These pencils are so easy to work with. They sharpen without breaking and give a smooth, consistent finish. I have started using these charcoal pencils exclusively. They are so much better than the other brands I've tried.

they're okay
I bought all my siblings sketchbooks for Christmas and gave them each two pencils with themthese were okay I guess for them but I wouldn't buy them for me, I'll stick w shopping at an art shop .... however for the time crunch of shopping online and needing delivery before Christmas these worked

Seem fine for what they are
These pencils seem fine for what they are. I don't really notice a big difference between the SOFT, MEDIUM and HARD. I thought it would be more pronounced like it is in my graphite pencils. The pencils arrive unsharpened. I used my electric sharpener and they sharpened perfect. So far no breakage, more use will bring more insight into their strength when sharpening. A nice thing is the barrels are ridged so that they don't roll of your table (and then likely break the charcoal inside. The box they come in has little ridges as well to hold them in place in case you prefer to keep them in order of hardness. They blend well with the finger tip (I experimented using paper for charcoal drawings). The price point is excellent and using pencils vs. loose charcoal definitely helps keep your fingers cleaner!
