It works but it's not as easy as my old intercom. My old unit required just pressing on the "talk" button and speak. This one has an on-off switch that seems redundant to me. However, my wife can call me out of the basement for dinner without shouting down the stairwell, so it's functional.

Returned, wires to short between where we needed. It. Went for Philips medical device in place of this idea

I wanted a cheaper intercom system to use in my home to talk from level to level. This item is CHEAP enough that it doesnt work properly. I read all the directions and installed it properly. The static coming from the devices were unbelivable. So, we tried them in another room. There is a loud screatching, almost alarm sounding noise that comes from it. There is NO volume control at all on either device so you have to place your hand over it to see if it will go away within a few seconds. If you pick up the device it works, but like I said there is no volume control, so the person talking on the other end has to whisper. And after you click the button once to relay a message, there is that annoying high pitch alarm sound again. There was no interference that were in the rooms I tried this in. Horrible product and not worth the ear pain of listening to it

Lots of bang for the buck. I am using it as an intercom from our business to the house. Works great ! Sound clear and installation a breeze ! I used blue computer line instead of the supplied wire.

Not impressive cheaply made. The modern day soup can and fishing string.

Works when plugged in or on battery backup

I am writing this review after using the unit daily for six weeks. I bought this to use with my recovering daughter, and I put one station in the living room and the other in her bedroom. Initially this worked ok, not great, but better than nothing. The sound was quiet, and not very clear, but usually you could figure out what she wanted. A few weeks passed and the sound got worse. Very indistinct and hard to decipher what she was saying. At one month, the main unit started squealing whenever you turn the switch on. Turn it off, turn it on until it's not squealing. The sound level is so quiet you almost can't hear it. It is now used only to get our attention, and then we go to her door and yell back and forth. Don't waste your money on this unit.

The intercom easily installs. I like that the unit will work off battery or household current with the included plug. The buzzer is sound is not jarring like the unit that this replaced.

I would recommend this to anybody that need to hook up a close range connection to another room in your place. Very easy to hool up and has had no issues and is very clear for sound.

Simpler is often better. No need to worry about signal strength or whether or not your electrical wiring is compatible. Just string the wire (which is very long) between the two units. For me, a tiny hole through a wall and tucking the thin wire into the baseboards was all that was necessary. One side can listen to the other or you can keep the unit off and wait until someone hits the buzzer. The buzzer is a bit loud and can't be adjusted but you do want to be able to hear it, so I suppose louder is better.

Simple device without finesse, but it works.

This Intercom system is a piece of junk. It started making a loud cracking sound when we press the talk button shortly after I got it. We can't even use it anymore. Don't waste your money and time setting this up.
