Excellent set of pliers, it’ll replace most of your tools!

The media could not be loaded. Excellent pliers! I got the bigger pliers but it’s hard to fit into tight spaces, these 7” pliers are just as strong and the mouth is almost as wide and the grip is incredibly. I just finished installing a new toilet and toilet seat for my wife with just this pliers and a few other kinepex tools. Made the job incredibly fast and efficient and replaced the traditional crescent pliers. I don’t have to take it out to turn but just tighten and loosen as I go, the ease of use and the design is great. Adjusting the pliers is very easy. I also put a new kitchen faucet for my that I got a week ago waiting for these pliers and it made the job incredibly fast! Does not scar the bolts and nuts. Great investment and hopefully it’ll last for years to come. I really squeeze and put these pliers to some heavy uses and heavy gripping, especially some of those toilet bolts.

Great invention. I threw out one of my crescents to make room for this and I never throw away tools.

These have become my favorite adjustable wrench. Small enough to get in everywhere a traditional crescent can, but because you can squeeze it with leverage you are MUCH less prone to round off your nut/bolt heads. With a crescent, you adjust it, and then start pulling and once you start torquing you have no feel for it until you get that dreaded "jump" and you round off the flats of your bolt. We've all done it and know all too well that feeling in your stomach when you wonder if this nut/bolt is going to become a monster because you just ruined it. With this design, you squeeze as you torque so you can feel just how much tension you are applying and it's always in flush contact with the flats. I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure I can put a whole lot more torque on a bolt with this and cause zero damage than I could ever achieve with the best crescent wrench.Because the jaws stay parallel when you squeeze, I find myself using them as smooth jaw pliers for fine work. I can get a lot more leverage and squeeze harder than I can with a smooth jaw needle nose or duckbill pliers and these will squeeze flat. The adjustment is unique, just press the button and slide...works so well you find yourself picking them up just to fidget with them.Only downside is yes...they are expensive. Yowsa! But they are a REALLY nice tool.

expensive but worth every penny

in my line of work the most common tool is an adjustable C wrench, this is a great replacement if you want to ad more functionality in a single tool. it is great as a plier, great as a hold back, great as an adjustable C wrench and can be very fast with the manual action when opening the hand instead of coming off the nut or bolt, and is just really cool and gets alot of looks and questions. The only cons i have found is that some situations where you have very little leverage it would be better to have something you dont have to squeeze in order to work, some times when you are at your farthest reach you cant squeeze the pliers to stack locked onto the nut or bolt. Another con is that there is no way to out of box attach this to a tool leash to make it safe to work above people. The last con is that these pliers weight more then i would like, i only need a max opening of 7/8" so the smallest lightest plier wrench will work, but i need high leverage and the smallest wrench is to short to use the 7/8" size especially when the last person over torqued the nut. but i might end up buying one anyway and customizing it to be longer and have a lanyard hole

Wow!

What a beautiful tool! This is one of those tools you want to use so much that you go looking for things to grip and turn. Much more refined than a vise-grip and more precise than a crescent wrench. It's beautifully finished and machined. This tool is actually 185mm (7.5") long. You adjust the position of the upper handle by pressing the joint rivet (it's actually a button) to allow the top lever to slide up and down the toothed rack. When you let go of the joint rivet, the top handle locks into place. On this model there are 13 adjustment positions and it opens to a maximum of 35 mm (1.25"). Adjusting the tool to the desired position is a little cumbersome, it takes 2-3 tries to slide it to the position you want. It take two hands to adjust the tool and you have to remove the tool from the work to adjust it.I love the way the jaws stay parallel to each other no matter what adjustment position the tool is in. The joint rivet is on a spring lock, if you don't press the button, the tool won't adjust. This is a good thing - you can drop and shake the tool all day and it won't change positions accidentally. There are two types of grips, "plastic coated" and "multi-component". These are the multi-component grips and they look more comfortable then the coated grips. The multi-component Knipex part numbers are 8605150 (150mm long, opens to 27mm/1", 14 adjustment positions), 8605180 (this model), and 8605250 (250mm long, opens to 46mm/1.75", 17 adjustment positions). The grips feel a little greasy to me, if they get a little oil/water on them, your hand slides a bit. I prefer Whia's soft grip finish which feels more sure.Go to Knipex website and download their catalog, it's a work of art. This tool is on page 95. There's lots of useful info in the catalog even if you don't own/buy the tools. This is a "must have" tool!

Well designed. Very useful.

It's a fantastically useful tool that replaces my adjustable wrench in almost every case. It's easier to use. Initial adjustment is quicker and never has to be tightened or loosened during use. Repositioning for another turn is quicker; just loosen your grip as you turn. It grips with zero play and high pressure thanks to the force multiplying effect of the mechanism. It's fairly narrow so it's more usable in restricted spaces. There is one thing it won't do that an adjustable wrench will. It won't hold when pressure isn't being applied to the grip, so you can't slide it onto a nut and let go while you use another wrench on the other end of a bolt, but there are better tools than an adjustable wrench for that, in any case.
