O'Neal Sonus Deft Mountain Bike Helmet Olive/Orange, Large

I have been riding Motocross for close to 50 years. It's always been an issue where helmets are heavy and hot. This O'Neill solves both of those problems. Especially during the hot months this mountain biking helmet is amazing. Once you look at the rating or impacts and the speeds Motocross are doing, they are almost identical to mountain bikes or downhill mountain biking. For any Motocross rider who rides in the heat like I do of over a hundred degrees oh, this is the way to go. Even if you just want a cooler ride, a mountain bike full face helmet is an absolute must from here on out. The technology is there so you're just being foolish if you go with the heavy motocross helmet. While I'm at it, I cannot say enough about O'Neill's pants jackets and jerseys. All of my pants are way better than my fox, and my alpinestars are as nice as my O'Neal but triple the cost. O'Neal for life baby! ✌️

I know this helmet is for downhill mountain biking, but I got it for riding my Onewheel and it works just as well for that. My head circumference is around 55cm so I got the small going by the size chart. It fits really well, but WITHOUT the cheek pads. I immediately had to take those out. I know they’re SUPPOSED to fit snug, but the pads were squeezing my jaw uncomfortably tight. Without them the rest of the helmet is just a liiiiittle loose, but I did take a spill and the helmet was no where near loose enough to fall off so that’s good.It’s very comfortable, fairly lightweight and seems quite breathable. I’ll see how that stacks up in warmer weather once it starts to get above 60F. But so far so good.Also, the helmet looks GOOD. Most helmets make me look like a bobblehead ‘cuz I have a small head, but this one doesn’t look so bad on me.Has more peripheral visibility than a motocross helmet as well.

===Update===Got a LARGE. Fits really snug. Sizes run way too small. Other than sizing issue, which are significant, it is a great helmet for the price. Great support & customer service too. Unbeatable support. I spoke to them for over 30 minutes about the issue.==============Update===I got the medium helmet to replace the small. The medium is WAY TOO SMALL too! It's bewildering. I've written the Oneal company to ask them what's up with their sizing chart.======A nice quality full-face bicycle helmet. Quality of helmet is significantly better than competing helmets at this price. The materials are nicer, the workmanship is better, and the engineering is (mostly) more thoughtful. It has 10 screen-covered air-flow vents (not including the one right in front of your mouth): 6 in front (2 for cheeks, 4 inlet on top of head (the visor can be positioned to funnel air into 2 or all 4), and 4 outlets in the back, 2 high, 2 low. These ports aren't just screened-over holes. There are air-circulation chambers throughout the helmet so the air actually moves in dedicated pathways front to back. Another 4 small air inlets on top of the face cut out directs air down onto your goggles/brow to try and keep them from fogging/getting dusty. Oneal's experience shows in the design of this product.Helmet DEFINITELY runs small. I measured my head. I measured it again. I waited a day and drank lots of water and ate lots of salt and measured my head again. I had other people measure my head. I ordered the size Oneal specifies as being correct for my head's circumference. I got the helmet on. It took some work, and it hurt, but I got it on. I looked in the mirror and I could see my face was being pushed out, and my lips made a kissing gesture because the padding was squeezing the sides of my noggin' so tightly it was pushing the rest of my head out through my face.Then there's the BUCKLE. It is extremely clever and works quite well. It allows you to buckle or unbuckle the helmet with one hand. It took me 30 seconds to work out how the buckle worked, and it's very easy to use if you know how it operates. My hesitation is that if I'm in some wreck where I'm knocked unconscious, whomever helps me out might not realize how the helmet unbuckles. It is quite possible that frantic fingers would fiddle with the little buckle sufficiently to get it off by accident, but who knows.The graphics are pretty lame and the color choices mediocre. Regardless I plan on returning this one and ordering one a size larger.

I've owned plenty of O'Neal products over the years so I know the company is consistent. At first, I got a size L and quickly realized it was a bit snug. The replacement came in, size XL, and that fit the bill. My cheeks are no longer being pinched and goggles fit better too. It's a bit in the heavy side, but for the type of riding I do, it works great. Plus, the olive and orange combo is nicer in person.

Quality is what you’d expect in this range, no real complaints there. ABS shell is to be expected for the price, however the sizing is very small.This line of helmets does not fit like their Mx helmets, these are very short from front to back putting a lot of pressure on your forehead. A large fits great from their MX line but an XL was too small for this.

I'm a round headed dude. Fits my head snug. I got the XL. Needs to he broken. In.. I'll update after multiple uses and falls . Over all colors look good and fabric feels tough . I bought it for mountain biking. I like the chin locking mechanism.

Perfect. Nice feel, comfy and super light. Gonna love it! I measure to make M but wear and XL helmet for comfort and this is just right.

a great-looking helmet that is very comfortable and considering it is pretty much the cheapest DH rated you can buy it is a great value. on paper, it is a bit heavy but I never notice it when I wear it. The only issue is they run a bit small so go with one size up.

This is the best helmet I've bought I feel really protected when up in the mountains

Der Helm kam durch Amazon Prime am nächsten Tag in einem Super Zustand bei mir zuhause an. Verpackung und Produktqualität waren gut. Insgesamt hat es einen sehr guten Eindruck gemacht.Habe den Helm in Größe M bestellt. Drückt zwar an einigen Stellen ist aber im Großen und Ganzen dennoch angenehm. Deswegen von mir leider nur 4 Sterne.Der Helm hat einen Sturz hinter sich und seinen Dienst sehr gut gemacht. Hatte nach dem Sturz keine Kopfschmerzen und anderen Beschwerden.Kann ich auf jeden Fall nur weiterempfehlen.

Wird zum Downhill fahren verwendet. Gute Belüftung, sitzt fest ohne Rutschen. Brille hält.

Haben den Helm unserem Sohn zum 11. Geburtstag geschenkt. Er fährt nur hobbymäßig mit dem BMX-Rad und dafür ist der Helm absolut ok. Optisch sieht er sehr gut aus und macht einen sehr stabilen Eindruck. Er hat keine Zulassung für den Straßenverkehr und fällt deswegen für Quad & Co aus.
