WildBird Care Platform Hanging Bird Feeder Multi-use BCF3B (Natural Color)

I was surprised by the quality of this feeder, considering what I paid for it. I have a feeling it would cost a lot more in the stores. The birds eat out of it and some of the bigger birds will simply sit in and eat, while the smaller birds wait their turn. After one year, a system has been formed. The smaller birds eat out of the tray hanging from the tree while the larger birds (doves) walk the ground underneath, picking up all the seed that falls to the ground. Easy to clean and use and stands on the sturdy legs without issue (though mine is hanging from a tree). The only issue I have had is keeping the wood in proper condition here in the desert heat/sun.

I really like this bird feeder because the birds can pick through what they want and I can add whatever I want each morning. What I don't like is that the holes in the tray are too big and the small bird feed falls right through on the ground making a mess. Mine actually needs a tray that's about 1/16' wider. It's just a tiny bit too small and if I don't position it just right with a balance between left and right side then one side falls down enough for all the feed to fall out. I agree with other reviews that the holes should line up evenly for the legs. Mine could not sit up level so I ended up switching it to a hanging feeder instead. It's fine now. Just have to keep an eye on the tray so a friendly squirrel that gets in there doesn't fall through! I also had to sand down some of the edges as they were pretty rough.

tips over, wire stand does not stay in place. contacted Wild Bird Care and no satisfaction. Would not buy again as ithey need to work on the metal stand and how it fits.

I got these to use for a some foraging experiments that my students are doing in an animal behavior class. They are perfect because they are flexible (hang vs ground) and the metal screen pulls out easily so the leftover seed can be easily collected for weighing. And the price was fantastic!

I purchased so many of these back when they were available for $5-$10. The price increase is ridiculous. Couldn't be happier with the quality and price. Multipurpose feeders. You can hang them, you can use them as a standing feeder. Great for chickens too!They are easy to wash and clean easily. The metal tray slides out easily. I did coat mine with linseed oil for weather protection and that was something I learned from other customers here. Accomodates all birds and unfortunately squirrels. So plan accordingly if you don't feed those.

This feeder is well made and versatile, since it can be used as either a hanging feeder or a stand feeder. It should be noted that it is pretty shallow when used in the hanging mode, however - about 1" deep or a little less (about twice this depth when standing). Dimensions are about 10" x 10", so it's not too large, but was perfect for my needs. So, I love it, and, of course, the birds love it, too (although they are generally not too picky, as long as they are being fed!).

Evidently holes for legs in the standing position are not drilled deep enough as legs won't go into slots so feeder will collapse with any amount of weight. Also, very easy to get slivers. No cedar aroma when I opened box unlike other person. Hope proso millet seeds won't fall thru openings...next time I shall get a feeder with a screen base.
