Direct Replacement for 7 year old laptop
Upgraded an older Acer TravelMate 6493 toWin10 Pro 64bit, and wanted to max out the memory to help it out. Originally came with a 2GB kit (1GBx2), that was previously upgraded to 4GB (2GBx2). This 8GBkit looked to be the most cost effective way to go the rest of the way, and since it was supposed to be backward compatible (PC3-12800 vs original PC3-8500), I took the chance. It worked out great! I'd previously upgraded to an SSD, and now with the added memory, it feels like a new laptop. Never going to be much good for gaming, mind you, but plenty serviceable for what I need. Note, it'll take an update to the latest Bios to get 8GB of memory to work in this machine.

Worked great. Upped the memory from the pre installed 2GB to 8GB and works much better now.

Upgraded from 4gb to 8gb in my late grandmother's Acer laptop and cloned hard drive to a solid state. Gave it new life and works for my dad to use for software that is Win7 compatible but not Win10 or Win 11.
