More than a bit impressed
When this arrived, I thought there was some mistake, they look TINY (despite the size being as stated) My ferro rods of choice are the Light My Fire ones/Ray Mears ones as I like a slow strike for precision, so took one out to try. Well, I was genuinely impressed ! First scrape, sparks straight off, standard test for me is with petroleum jelly cotton wool balls 'cos I know these catch well, and flame immediately !As per a previous review, the rod takes more "damage" then the striker - which is how it should be - I tried this out with various rods, from the smaller Scout and Army models (LMF) and my personal favourite, the Ray Mears one (9mm) and these ALL worked brilliantly. The larger (12.5mm) rods I have are softer, so need a faster strike motion, but works with them too.I am more than a bit impressed with these, as a "key ring" item, there's no excuse not to have one.Very pleasantly surprised despite my initial reservations - highly recommended.
