Escape artist
This is a great trap when it works. I caught one of my cats the first night and the next night another of my cats. The third night I caught one skunk and this was shown on my trail cam. It escaped by putting it's arms out of the little holes in the drop down trap. It shook the trap door enough to get the block out of the way and open it. I guess some duct tape over the holes tonight might help. Right now I have two skunks, one ready to give birth. I'll let you know if the duct tape works.Well, the duct tape didn’t work. Trapped skunk chewed the tape over the holes and escaped again! Today I glued a piece of plastic over the holes and duct taped over that. Let’s see if the little escape artist can figure this one out. (to be continued)I finally caught the first skunk. After I caught her I put the whole trap in the back of my van and drove to a thick forest about 8 miles away and let her go. No skunk spray at all, not even when I let her out. So I set the trap again and the next night the camera caught another skunk going in, the trap door shut half way and it escaped. This was due to the chewed duct tape slowing down the descent of the trap door. I fixed it today and it will be back in the barn tonight for another try. (stay tuned)Okay, skunks keep escaping and I'm not sure why. The door descends but the skunks turn around and seem to be able to shake and lift the door and put their nose in the opening and lift up. What the heck?! I've brought the trap into the house and fully cleaned it, put it out and trapped another skunk the next night and after an hour or so it manages to escape. The fact they get trapped and seem to return after escaping is the only thing I can say is good about it. I'm not sure why this particular trap is a problem because it seems like other users have good luck catching any number of critters. Maybe I can weigh the door and get it to keep them in. It looks as if my review is turning into a blog but maybe I will find a situation that will work for me...Okay, caught second skunk and taught it to swim in the water trough on Valentine's Day. Sad but I found out it's illegal to release them so I had to do it. There is a third one awaiting its own trapping. I am learning patience. BTW, no spray at all. I recommend this trap.

Somewhat difficult to set, but it works.
This trap works, even if it is finicky when setting it. It could use better usage and set-up instructions. There are ways to make the trap openings more secure, but they don't tell you about them. It could also use a stabilizer bar to prevent rocking, especially as the animals enter it. If they are at all hesitant, the rocking scares them and the trap misses.

Great design, poor craftmanship
The design is great: long tube, multiple motion trigger (straight or rotational mouvement of the rod), easy to clean, vertical door, etc. But the craftmanship is seriously poor for a trap of this price. It won’t prevent the trap to fulfill its main purpose, but seriously: paint flaking, tube cut not straight, mesh door with too few bad weld spots, holes roughly drilled. It’s like this product has been manufactured by unskilled people on a hurry. Price should reflect that, not the case (premium price)

Effective But Poorly Built
The general design of the trap is good and it’s very effective (caught a raccoon first night I put it out) but the materials and manufacturing process needs improvement. I’ve had the trap outside for roughly 14 days and it’s already deteriorating. First, the screen on the back of the trap is already coming off because they did not use enough welds and the welds they did make are of poor quality. Second, the the pin used to secure the back of the trap and every other metal surface without paint is already covered in rust (should have used stainless steel or aluminum).

NICE TRAP, DIFFERENT FROM PICS AND DAMAGED - STILL 5 STARS
EDIT: Changing my review to 5 stars. We ended up catching a total of 6 skunks with this trap. Caught a skunk the first night we set it, using simple dry catfood as bait. None have sprayed once in the trap, and they feel so comfortable, it's rather difficult to get them to come back out when relocating. Even with the flaws, this thing does exactly what it's supposed to do.In the product pics, it clearly shows 4 viewing holes on the trap door, which ours does not have, (it's a solid plate) making it impossible to see inside the trap from that end. The trap works perfectly, and it's well made. One other issue was packaging. ZERO packing cushion in the box, so the trap has a dent with paint flaking off, which we will need to paint so it doesn't rust. Regardless, I would absolutely recommend this trap.

Worked great!!!
Had one skunk that I was having trouble catching. I had a different trap but a squirrel chewed a hole in it. After trying several other traps and having the skunk avoid it I tried this. I used some brush to camouflage it, and got the skunk on the first night.

Worked extremely well.
This trap worked perfectly. I captured 6 skunks and 2 cats, the cats was not intended lol. And I released the skunks in the country far away from my home. Highly recommended.

Very simple to use, it works...
Use of the trap very simple, if you drown the skunk you don't have to deal with any stink. I tried to be nice an got sprayed the first time... so do what works for you. The trap works great 👍..
