Ethidium Bromide can be used to detect both single and double stranded nucleic acids (both DNA and RNA). However, Ethidium Bromide does not intercollate into single-stranded DNA very well; therefore, the fluorescence of single-stranded DNA is relatively poor in comparison to double-stranded DNA. The recommended final concentration of Ethidium Bromide in an agarose gel and/or electrophoresis buffers is 0.5 microgram/ml. Store at room temperature, keep tightly sealed, protect from moisture, light sensitive. Notes: 1 Drop = 0.25 microliter; Use 1 microliter of Ethidium Bromide Solution for every 10ml of agarose solution.
