Trust me when I say I am not good at stuff like this. My friend printed this mug on a 3d printer in brown and asked if I could paint it for him. I just recently started painting some of the items he prints just for fun, exploring a new possible hobby. I bought this paint set and I have to say I am impressed. They include step by step instructions on how to achieve the look of wood or leather. I followed them to the letter and you see the results. I'm sure if you were more experienced it would come out even better, but for a newbie, this was so easy. I would definitely recommend this set. Pics show the mug primed, painted, then final poly coat shine. (primer and poly shine not included)

Exactly what I was looking for, specialty paint for different effects. The instructions are excellent with step by step photos on how to achieve wood and various leather effects.

Makes stuff look like wood, makes it look like you know what you are doing. The directions are worth as much as the paint. Good kickstart to building a paint collection.

I was pleasantly surprised with these paints. I bought this for a ship I was building and had no previous experience with Vallejo. The paint goes on easy and evenly with great color after drying. Using a good primer goes a long way, but this paint is perfect for plastic models.

Now, I just opened the box and pulled the paints out. I haven't tried them yet but they are Vallejo. Vallejo is my favorite modeling paint so far. The colors they have in this kit look fantastic and I can't wait to use them because I've been relying on Dollar Store acrylics for my leather and wood looks. They do ok but I wanted something made specifically for the things I'm doing. And what I like about Vallejo is they put a little book in the packages for those of us who are just getting into the model painting to give us tips and tricks (as well as advertise other paints to drool over). So yes. I think I'll be quite happy with these paints.

I'm new to modelling, but I've quickly grown fond of Vallejo paints. I've tried a few brands, and Vallejo works best for me- their colors are solid, the paint goes on smoothly, it mixes well with other paints and water, and it cleans up easily. I especially like the pamphlets that come with these paint sets- very simple instructions with clear, colorful photos. I've learned quite a bit about getting my model colors to look more realistic. I will definitely be sticking with Vallejo in the future.My only issue with these paints is the squeeze bottles they come in- it can be hard to mix the paints before squeezing them out of the bottle. On the plus side, though, it's very easy to measure and keep track of proportions when customizing colors.
