The Door Guardian Door Reinforecment Lock - Brass

The mounting plate is too thick to work on my door. The gap between the door and frame needs to be wide enough for this to work. Product seems like it's solid and would work well. I ended up using the gatehouse flip lock as it has a thinner mounting plate.

I purchased this lock after my elderly relative with Alzheimer's continued to try and leave her home. I saw this lock put to the test during my last visit where she could not get the door open as she tried to leave quietly. My only advice would be to put it up high on the door so it's not easily accessible. I feel so relieved having this lock on her door now. It saves me a ton of stress.

This is an ingenious device for securing doors to protect people with Alzheimer's from opening the doors; while still allowing others to open and close without issue.

If you have a flat door and flat frame around your door it’s a pretty easy install. If you have a casing around the door you will need to have that cut out so that the two pieces will lie flat in order to lock together. We hired a handyman to do it & it was worth every penny for peace of mind. It’s a sturdy product and works well.

We love these things. Have them installed on all of our outside doors. We mount them up high so that the kids can not get to them, allowing work to be done around the house knowing that the kids haven't run outside without our knowledge. Wife loves them as it gives her an extra sense of security when I am at work or travelling.

Lock works great...just dissatisfied with color which is suppose to be BRASS and is actually more of a COPPER color!

My 18mo old is a climber and it didn't take her long to figure out how to open doors and dead bolts, so the guardian lock has been a life saver. First one went on the back door, and before long we got one for the front too. I like having the extra layer of protection when I'm home alone too.I have noticed though, assuming it has to do with installation, but the front door lock is very tight and can be hard to slide open where as the back door lock tends to be loose and you have to make sure its pushed fully into the lock position or the little one can still escape!
