Does the job but took twice as long and more product to do it.
I am seriously on the fence about this one. I have used other brands in the past, such as Auto Finesse's Iron Out, but they are quite expensive for the quantity of product you get. This is why I had high hopes for Dirtbusters' Iron Fallout remover.I was cleaning a vehicle which had a lot of contaminants on the paintwork. Clearly a lot of iron deposits and clearly something that a clay bar would be necessary to get rid of prior to paint correction. But in order to make things a little easier I would use an iron fallout remover, specifically Dirtbusters product in particular. Having cleaned the vehicle as thoroughly as possible prior to using Dirtbister' Iron Fallout Remover, I looked around the vehicle to see what I was dealing with. You could clearly see some of the fallout in the paintwork and running the tips of my fingers across it revealed just how bad it was. I figured that it would take at least two passes using both the Iron Fallout Remover and a clay bar just to get it to a stage where it could be polished. I shook the bottle before use, not necessary but force of habit and all that, before screwing on the provided spray nozzle applicator. As I began spraying down the vehicle the spray nozzle trigger stopped moving as freely and would take a second or two before being able to press again. Not a big deal you may think but it does become frustrating when you are trying to save time. Having sprayed the vehicle down I noticed that there wasn't much happening which was a surprise. Having used Auto Finesse's product in the past I was expecting an immediate reaction to the fallout as it began to dissolve some of the particles. It took ten minutes and a repeat application to stop the product from drying before it began turning purple, indicating that it is dissolving the iron particles, and even then it didn't massively change colour as much as I would have expected. But with all that said, it did seem to work as when looking around the vehicle after pressure washing the product off i could clearly see there was less contamination in the paintwork, but it took way longer than I am used to which isn't great if you are under time constraints.Overall I am on the fence about this product. It is less expensive than some but I had to use more than I needed to due the product beginning to dry before it was able to do its job effectively, and that in itself is an issue as you never want to allow any product like this to dry out. I feel that Dirtbusters' Iron Fallout Remover would do a much better job if it had a higher concentration than it currently does now based on the amount of time it took to do its job, but until then I think I will go back to using other brands I have used in the past as I have had just as much success in less time.
